  • It’s Global Recycling Day! In 2023-24, we recycled 74 metric tons of paper, 98 metric tons of industrial non-hazardous materials, and donated 37.9 metric tons of electronic equipment (like computers, monitors and accessories) for re-purposing or recycling. Responsibility is built into our standards and guides our projects — learn more in our Environment, Social and Governance Report: https://lnkd.in/g-tfBtqw

    • Three blue recycling bins full of paper are stacked on top of a cart.
  • We are committed to achieving and maintaining a workforce that reflects the demographics of the communities we serve. That's why we offer initiatives like our pre-placement programs and bursaries for underrepresented groups. We're proud to say we've once again been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers!

  • Traffic is flowing — and so is electricity — on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. We wrapped up work on two underground chambers near Polo Park late last week, about one month ahead of schedule. Thank you to crews who worked long hours (in very cold conditions) and carefully planned each phase to keep the project moving as quickly as possible. ⚡️💪

    • A man in personal protective equipment stands inside an underground chamber. He looks up through the circular opening, smiling and giving a thumbs up.

    • Cables run through an underground chamber.
    • A car drives past the metal lid of an underground chamber. The lid is labelled “Hydro”
  • Join our virtual public meeting on March 4 as we discuss our work to provide reliable, affordable electricity and natural gas today and into the future. We'll review our key achievements in the past year and our focus for the coming year. You'll also be able to ask us questions about our services and our business.

  • We Beat the Cold with 1JustCity!! 💪❄️⛸️ Shout out to our workers who bundled up to volunteer, participate, and raise funds for Just A Warm Sleep, a warming shelter run by 1JustCity. We love to see our employees involved in the community — and we love to support events like this through sponsorship. Check out our Environmental, Social, and Governance Report to learn more about the community events we support each year: https://lnkd.in/gUbXB6Gp

    • Five people in winter gear and Manitoba Hydro toques stand on the frozen Red River. Four of them are wearing triathlon numbers.
  • February is Black History Month (BHM)! To celebrate, our Black Employee Resource Group is hosting a BHM Cultural Market, with vendors showcasing food, art, crafts, and other products that reflect the vibrancy of Black culture and businesses. On Feb. 13 you can stop by 360 Portage Avenue to pick up some lunch or a Valentine’s gift from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. — and there will also be cultural performances over the noon hour.

  • These tiny pieces of plastic save money. We’ve hammered in hundreds of these little sticks (called wedges) at Limestone Generating Station to protect millions of dollars of generating equipment. They’re tiny but mighty because they keep huge generating units running tightly and smoothly, so we can produce electricity more efficiently with fewer repairs over time. How do they work? We've got the details on our website: https://lnkd.in/gw2fBStk

    • Workers re-wedge pieces of plastic in the rotor of a generating unit.
    • A person's hand holds up four plastic wedges used in generating units.
    • Generating unit rotor out of stator pocket.
