    Chief Marketing Officer @ Manitobah

Last week, my colleagues Daman Morissette, Nikki Lace, and I had the pleasure of spending time with Jen Elson's RRC Polytech Creative Communications class. We shared how Manitobah works to blend mission and commerce in ways that showcase and amplify Indigenous voices and stories. It was truly inspiring to engage with the students and answer their thoughtful questions. Thank you, Jen, for the invitation! #WalkWithUs #CommunicationStrategy #IndigenousCommunities

Today, and every September 30th, we observe a time for solemn reflection: the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, alongside Orange Shirt Day, in Canada and National Day of Remembrance for U.S. Indian Boarding Schools commemorate the painful past of Residential School programs while also recognizing the ongoing efforts and opportunities to create a better future for every child. Here are 4 ways to commemorate Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 1. WEAR ORANGE ON SEPTEMBER 30TH: In the one simple action of wearing an orange shirt, you are contributing to a future where Every Child Matters and Indigenous communities are included and honoured every day. Click here for official merchandise: https://lnkd.in/gJmsJ3qU 2. SUPPORT LOCAL MOVEMENTS AND EVENTS: If you are near our HQ in Winnipeg, please join us at the Wa-Say Healing Walk and Pow Wow. Gather at The Oodena Circle at 10am for a Pipe Ceremony followed by a healing walk at 11am. We encourage you to find events in your community. 3. READ THE 94 CALLS TO ACTION: We encourage you to read the 94 Calls to Action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. The six categories Indigenous people across Canada are fighting for include: Child Welfare, Education, Health, Justice, Language and Culture. Visit this link to learn more: https://nctr.ca 4. SPREAD AWARENESS, LOVE AND COMPASSION: The best way forward is with education, awareness and compassion year round. Every child matters.

🌿 Celebrating International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 🌎 Today, we honour the vibrant cultures, profound wisdom, and remarkable resilience of Indigenous communities worldwide. At Manitobah, our journey began in 1997 when Métis entrepreneur Sean McCormick traded hides and furs with Indigenous artisans who crafted beautiful mukluks and moccasins. These artisans not only preserved their ancestors' stories through stunning beadwork and adornment but also thrived in the world's harshest climates. Sean had a vision to bring these unique designs to a global stage, celebrating and giving back to the culture that inspired them. Today, Manitobah remains committed to sharing stories of Indigenous art, design, and resilience through our high-quality footwear. We honour our roots through numerous social impact commitments and initiatives, inviting you to walk with us, join us on this journey, and support our mission to make positive impacts in Indigenous communities. As we commemorate this significant day, let’s deepen our understanding of Indigenous cultures and engage in meaningful dialogue. Walking together, we can make a difference with every step and create a more inclusive and respectful world. #WalkWithUs #WorldIndigenousPeoplesDay

✨👣 As a company rooted in Indigenous culture, our vision is to build a vibrant global brand that makes positive impacts in Indigenous communities. We were honoured to participate in the National Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) Executive Forum in Washington D.C. earlier this month, where leaders from diverse sectors converged to advance equity, sustainability, and the preservation of our natural landscapes. One of the event's highlights was the active engagement of U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, the first Indigenous Cabinet Secretary in U.S. history. Secretary Haaland's participation in discussions and sharing of insights underscored the importance of Indigenous leadership and perspectives in shaping policies that impact our environment and communities. As the first Indigenous Cabinet Secretary, Secretary Haaland's advocacy for equitable outdoor access and environmental stewardship deeply resonates with our values. Her historic role serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of representation and inclusion in shaping policies that affect us all. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable for organizing this event and to Secretary Haaland for her inspiring leadership. Together, let us continue to honour our past, care for the earth, and strive to be what our ancestors dreamed us to be. ✨👣 #walkwithus 📸 Photos by Paul Morigi/Getty Images for Outdoor Recreation Roundtable

🌊✨ Recognizing Indigenous Women as Water Protectors✨🌊   In Indigenous cultures, women have long been revered as the keepers and guardians of water – nurturing, caretaking, and safeguarding Mother Earth’s gifts. One such advocate is Dreamcatcher Foundation Ambassador Autumn Peltier, an Anishinaabe International Indigenous Rights and Water Activist from the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory in Northern Ontario.   Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation provides community funding for Indigenous reservations with unsafe drinking water. They believe that everyone has a right to clean drinking water and are committed to increasing awareness of this issue while providing short-term water filtration solutions until permanent infrastructure is built.   As we reflect on World Water Day—let us stand in solidarity with Indigenous women like Autumn Peltier and organizations like Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation. Together, let's amplify their voices, honour their contributions, and support their tireless efforts to protect our waters.💧🌿 #WalkWithUs #WorldWaterDay   Donate Link: https://lnkd.in/eUs3DmqB
