🌟 Professor Yusuf Altintas Named Officer of the Order of Canada 🌟 We are thrilled to announce the outstanding achievement of Professor Yusuf Altintas, the founding president of MAL Manufacturing Automation Laboratories Inc.
Congratulations to UBC Mechanical Engineering Professor Yusuf Altintas who has been named an Officer of the Order of Canada! The second highest level of this honour, he is being recognized for his contributions as a world leader in the fields of metal cutting dynamics and the computer control of machine tools, and as a mentor in Canada and beyond. The director of UBC's Manufacturing Automation Lab, many also know Dr. Altintas from our highly-sought after mechatronics programs, which he founded over twenty years ago, and more recently as one of the founding coordinators of UBC's Manufacturing Engineering Program. He has been a deep influence on our students, giving them the skills to be leaders in their fields. From the Royal Society of Canada to the US National Academy of Engineering, and Germany's ACATECH, his contributions have been recognized by top organizations across the world.
