We officially celebrated the 25th anniversary of our initial public offering with a bell-ringing at the Toronto Stock Exchange today. In 1999, our IPO was the largest in Canadian history. Today’s event is a great reminder of how far we’ve come and the pivotal role we play in raising the bar for our colleagues, customers, and the industry.

He's a seven-time Olympic medallist and tied as the most-decorated Canadian Olympian! We were honoured to welcome Andre De Grasse to our Manulife Canada headquarters in Waterloo recently, just weeks after returning from Paris 2024. The all-star sprinter joined President and CEO of Manulife Canada, Naveed Irshad, for an inspiring conversation about leadership, accountability, and trust – and why they’re essential for any #WinningTeam. Video Description: Please join me in welcoming Andre De Grasse. As I got to maybe 20 metres left into the race, at that moment, I kind of knew we won. It was definitely a surreal moment. What I told the guys is we have an amazing opportunity here to do something special that no one's ever done. I mean the last time we won a gold medal was in 1996. What makes a great leader? Some that's going to get the best out of you, right? As a human, you have a little bit of self-doubt in yourself that, you know, maybe I can't accomplish these goals. And then, that leader is telling you no, you can. That's why I hire a great team around me. I hire a bunch of coaches that are motivational to me, that are inspirational to me, that can kind of get me to that next step. Thank you for sharing your insights, and representing Canada with so much integrity.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. It’s a day to honour and remember the impact that residential schools had on Indigenous children and their families. It’s also time to reflect, learn and engage in meaningful conversation. Ojibwe author Jesse Wente spoke to our colleagues about his personal journey of healing, the importance of truth-telling and the steps needed to face the challenges ahead.

Members of our leadership team recently attended the 11th annual Milken Institute Asia Summit. The event brings together government officials and industry leaders to discuss today’s most urgent challenges and find ways to work in collaboration to address them through impactful investments for people and the planet. Manulife participated in two panel discussions this year on how we are decarbonizing our food systems and previewing the investment outlook in Asia Pacific in the coming year. #MIGlobal

We believe expressing gratitude is more than a single gesture, it’s a collection of moments that foster a culture of appreciation. Throughout the summer, we’ve been celebrating our #WinningTeam with events across our offices, bringing our colleagues together to connect, take a break, and have some well-deserved fun. Here are a few snippets from the past couple months.

On this #InternationalDayOfCharity, we wanted to share a recent activity involving our Global Operations Leadership team during their annual conference. Our colleagues were challenged with assembling bicycles for the local community. The bikes were donated to our community investment partner, Evergreen Canada and will support their learn-to-bike program. #ManulifeImpact Video Description: This group is putting together bikes. They're going to be donated to one of our community investment partners, Evergreen Canada. Evergreen is an amazing nonprofit organization. We actually support a bike program that they have there, which is a learn to bike program. Newcomers, children, anyone that really has never ridden a bike can come together and learn and it gets them outside exercising, the whole bit. So, this crew are putting together the bikes. They then have to pitch them as a collaboration and a group exercise, and the winners will receive $100 into their Impact Hub, where they can donate that back to a charity of their choice. Not everyone has the privilege of owning and riding a bike and we're going to make that happen. Bike Power!
