Here’s what Matt, Builder for Mattamy’s Tucson team shares: “A typical day for me as a Builder on Mattamy's Tucson team begins with unlocking homes, getting permits out for inspections and walking the rooms of each house. As I carry out my walk through, I make a list of items that were completed and a list of items that need to be completed. Then, I call the respective tradespeople for items that still need to be done and confirm timelines. Ever wonder what happens to cacti when you’re developing a new community in the desert? What if we told you they are given a second life! Last month, Mattamy’s Tucson Division completed their most recent cacti salvage in partnership with the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society (TCSS). Together, the Tucson Division and TCSS recovered 667 plants from Mattamy’s upcoming Tavira at Twin Peaks community in Marana, AZ. The native plants were then transplanted and repurposed for landscaping, restoration projects as well as home gardens. The collaboration has flourished over the past four years since the initiative began, demonstrating a win-win scenario: native Arizona plants continue to thrive, while the land can be developed responsibly.
