"All the benefits of sport have been recognized as necessities for individuals to live a dignified life," he said. "Sport can be a tool to enable those benefits for all. There are international legal frameworks and declarations that recognize this, and Canada has signed on to these. Once we recognize that sport, play, physical activity are rights, we have to make this a reality by building systems that enable participation, accountability, non-discrimination, and empowerment." An internal Ontario Government | Gouvernement de l’Ontario document estimates 234,000 homeless people in this province. Unsurprisingly, ODSP and OW recipients are most likely to be homeless (as Maytree has pointed out many times, social assistance cannot cover any available rooms for rent in most of Ontario, let alone a studio apartment). 8 years ago, Ontario estimated the need for 30,000 supportive homes over a decade. Not only have they failed to do so, Ontario now needs 25,000 new supportive homes A YEAR for 10 years to meet need. https://lnkd.in/gPUUbFQA
