To see more of the video go to our YouTube channel. ⁠ ⁠ Question: Winter coverage… on water coverage for the entirety of the policy? ⁠ Answer: Late season fishing is growing in popularity every year. There is a mandatory lay up period which is November 30th to April 1st. Yes, the weather is ever changing and we have seen milder than normal temperatures in the past few winters. We can extend the lay up period to allow you to be on the water later, or earlier, but you must let us know so we can add it. It does cost more, about and additional 10% of the premium per month, up to the 4 months (December to March). It will still not cover freezing or ice damaged caused during the lay up period.⁠ ⁠ Question: Any difference in coverage between road, launch, on water, storage? ⁠ Answer: The only difference would be the mandatory lay up period. Between November 30th and April 1st there is no on water coverage unless it is added to the policy. ⁠ ⁠ Question: Do I get coverage if ice damages my boat while breaking through it? Note: If you have any questions or concerns about your policy, please contact your broker to see what coverages apply. Every policy is different! Question: When and where am I covered with my boat insurance when trailering? Answer: While trailering, the auto insurance policy will extend the liability portion only to the trailer. It will not cover any physical damage that occurs to the trailer or its contents. Our policy will cover any physical damage in the case of an accident. If you are backing down the ramp and hit a rock or piece of debris in the water, our policy will step in and cover your boat. Question: Does my insurance company cover a switch to lithium batteries in my boat? (Some do not, and anglers have been hesitant to postpone the change.) Answer: As of now, we do not have a problem with this. All electric boats and PWCs that use lithium batteries can be insured by us. Question: How easy is it to get additional coverage for expensive electronics/tackle? Answer: Electronics and tackle are considered two separate categories on the policy. Tackle will be listed under your personal effects, with coverage up to $5,000 unless we need to increase that amount. Your electronics and navigation equipment are covered under the insured value of the boat and carry a $250 deductible. Navigation equipment includes items such as GPS devices, fish finders, graphs, and depth finders. If you purchase these items after your policy is in place, please send us a copy of the receipt, and we will add that amount to your overall insured value. Additionally, if you make any upgrades or change an engine or trailer, please contact us right away to update your policy. Failure to do so could impact a claim in the future. We’re warning all Canadians about a ghost broker scam under the names “AllcoveredbyAviva” or “Allcoveredbrokers” on social media, selling fake insurance in Alberta. Victims transfer money for auto insurance, receiving fake pink slips or no response. Ghost brokers pose as legitimate insurance brokers, selling fake policies that leave people without real coverage.
