A great article in Pharmacy Times highlights pharmacists' role in supporting patient care as part of a team and alleviating physician burnout. Author Shannon Reidt calls out that technology will play an essential role in allowing pharmacists to work at the top of their licenses as they are also facing burnout and labor issues today. Pharmacists are already well-placed to support patients in chronic disease management based on their training, interactions, and experience. The program aims to reduce the 50% no-show rate at some rural Mississippi health department appointments. Interesting research out of NYU Grossman School of Medicine showed that patients who live in neighborhoods with higher levels of poverty and unemployment are less likely to fill their life-saving heart-failure drug prescriptions than those living in wealthier areas. Their findings highlight the importance of considering neighborhood socioeconomic status when developing interventions to ensure people with heart failure have access to their medication. https://lnkd.in/g2nFT6MX
