Energy Autonomous Dual-Band Antenna System for RFID-Based Real-Time Battery Level Monitoring: this #openaccess paper by Braden Smyth, Hamed Khoshniyat, Mahdi Barati, Sam Clark, Prof. Rashid Mirzavand, and Prof. Ashwin Iyer has now been fully published in the IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation - OJAP (vol. 5, no. 5, pp. 1140-1151). This work was funded in part through the Innovation for #Defence Excellence and Security (#defenceIDEaS) program from the Department of National Defence/Ministère de la défense nationale. https://lnkd.in/gznBNuMc
Check out our recently published #openaccess paper in the IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation - OJAP Special Section on #antenna-enabled #sensors and systems, titled "Energy Autonomous Dual-Band Antenna System for RFID-based Real-Time Battery Level Monitoring". This paper presents a self-contained antenna-enabled sensor that harvests ambient RF energy at 2.4 GHz to charge a battery, and communicates the battery level wirelessly through #UHF #RFID backscatter communication at 915 MHz, without relying on battery power, using a dual-band #patch antenna and #diplexer based on #MTMEBG technology. Congratulations to Braden Smyth, Hamed Khoshniyat, Mahdi Barati, Sam Clark, and Profs. Rashid Mirzavand and Ashwin Iyer on this work, which was funded in part through the Innovation for #Defence Excellence and Security (#defenceIDEaS) program from the Department of National Defence. https://lnkd.in/gznBNuMc
