Yesterday our Founder, Sunshine Tenasco, and a few of our incredible Pow Wow Pitch Alumni, Alex Manitopyes of SACRD THNDR and Trisha Pitura of MINI TIPI participated in Aritzia’s panel for over 300 employees where they engaged in a dynamic session of learning and celebrating their business journeys as Indigenous entrepreneurs. Moderated by Sunshine, the panel consisted of inspiring discussions and questions about the Indigenous fashion industry, entrepreneurship, and their resilience. We are proud to stand together with leaders like Aritzia to continue growing and celebrating Indigenous entrepreneurship. This is a shining example of how corporate leadership can stand hand-in-hand with Indigenous entrepreneurs to listen, educate, and be a positive drive for change.

Being in a room full of women with a similar mindset is so inspiring and empowering. At Indigenomics SHE the focus was on "Beyond" Resilience, and turns out, we are all tired of being resilient. We are at the forefront of change, by doing business in a good way to be the leaders of our industries. I had the absolute pleasure to sit in circle with @Andreanne Mulaire of @annemulaire to share our journey in fashion and manufacturing. We both lead our businesses with our values to ensure our decisions and impact are positive for the next seven generations to come. We are choosing to lift one another up, and support one another to make change- this is why we work so hard everyday. Miigwech to Carol Anne Hilton, MBA, ICD.D for being a trailblazer and pushing the limits.

Today is not a holiday. Today is about truth, one that has now been exposed. September 30th is a day to remind us that there is work to do, that we all need to be part of the change that is needed now and for future generations. Today is about honoring the children who never made it home and the survivors who carry generations of trauma. Imagine having your children, your culture and your language stolen. Everyday should be about making a conscious decision on how we show up and help make the change through ACTION. Indigenous peoples are here and are reclaiming the space that was taken away. We need to appreciate this beautiful culture and understand the history of this land we all share. There will be no change unless there is a true undersanding- knowledge is power. 94 calls of action- what are they? Let's start there, together. ReconciliACTION every day.
