On September 28, International Safe Abortion Day, we celebrated our very first in-person event, ‘Celebrating Choice’ and also simultaneously launched our first podcast. So, without further ado, we’d like to introduce our online community to our limited-series podcast, Let’s Talk Abortion.💜🎧☕️ Despite being decriminalized in Canada for over 36 years, stigma and access issues still remain, so let’s talk about it. Through engaging conversations with experts and advocates, we’re unpacking key topics like: ✨ Abortion Access in Canada 💊 Medication and Procedural Abortion 🏳️⚧️ Gender-Affirming Abortion Care 🏛️ Abortion in Prisons 🪶 Indigenous Perspectives on Abortion ⚖️ Politics and the History of Abortion Care in Canada Join us as we explore these vital intersections of healthcare, social justice, and reproductive rights. Let’s keep the abortion conversation out in the open, because healthcare should never occur in the shadows. Subscribe to *Let’s Talk Abortion* now and join the conversation! 💜☕️ New episodes available weekly with the next episode releasing this Saturday (Nov 9). 🗓️ Available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. This podcast series was made possible thanks to support from Oxfam Canada Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada and McMaster University. Cover by the incredibly talented Jules Monson🎨🖌️

🌟 At missINFORMED, we’re committed to advancing conversations on reproductive health that prioritize access, equity, and inclusivity. Our panel, “Imagining the Next Chapter for Abortion Care in Canada,” brought together trailblazing experts and advocates to explore the current landscape and envision future possibilities for abortion care across Canada. Our panelists, Willow Paul, Natasha Hines, Clark MacIntosh, Dr. A.J. Lowik, and Nora Ahmadi, shared powerful insights on the importance of gender-affirming, trauma-informed, and intersectional care. Together, they highlighted key advancements and systemic challenges while fostering solutions for an inclusive future. Today, the Federal Government introduced new rules to prevent charitable organizations from spreading misinformation about abortion care. This is an important step towards safeguarding reproductive rights and ensuring access to accurate, unbiased information for all. "We commend the federal government for taking this important step," says Meghan Doherty, Co-Director of Policy and Advocacy at Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights. "We also recognize that policies like this must be paired with improved access to quality public health and education services.” Action Canada applauds this move, but it’s only part of the solution. We're calling on leaders to also support local sexual health clinics, universal contraception and meaningful investments in comprehensive sex-ed.
