  • Thank you for supporting organizations like Mom2Mom!

International Women's Day was last Friday, but the work we need to do didn't go away on Saturday. Equity isn’t just something we focus on for a 24 hour period - it requires our energy, our intention, and our action on a daily basis, especially if we want to effect change. One of the biggest reasons I joined Traction Rec just over 2 and a half years ago was because of our strong female CEO, Lara Gilchrist. Seeing a leader who not only advocated for equity but also lived those values made a huge impact on me. And it wasn’t just words—our team has worked hard to achieve pay parity, gender equity across our company, and strong representation in our leadership. And, for International Women’s Day, we didn’t just acknowledge the need for change—we took action. We asked our team to choose the organizations we wanted to support - the charities that uplift self-identifying women and fight for equity. And we donated. Because real change happens when we support the people doing the work. IWD may be over, but the work continues. We’re here for the long haul. I'm here for the long haul. 💜 #AccelerateAction #GenderEquity #SupportTheSupporters

  • Monday Motivation: this WIN for BC families! "Today, the Honourable Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, and the Honourable Lisa Beare, British Columbia’s Minister of Education and Child Care, announced an agreement that will enable British Columbia to enhance school food programs for 90,000 kids in just over 1,000 schools across the province this school year. With this agreement, families in British Columbia with two children in school can save an estimated $800 in grocery bills a year on average." Check out the full release -> https://lnkd.in/ey75P344 We still have a long way to go to ensure no child goes hungry, but this is a step in the right direction. • This International Women's Day, the theme is #AccelerateAction. Women’s rights are under attack. The advancements we have made, the battles won, and our bodies and choices are under threat. The U.S. trade war, funding cuts, and years of rising income inequality since the COVID-19 Pandemic are also pushing single mothers further into poverty. And children are paying the price. But this shouldn't wake us feel hopeless. Instead, it should be a call to action. We have power, and we are not asking for justice. We are demanding it. We are not waiting for change. We ARE the change. Stand with us. Donate. Volunteer. Use your voice. Because when women rise, the world rises with us. As Angela Davis said, "You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.” Take action by donating to support single moms today -> https://lnkd.in/gD2ykvAF

  • Happy Family Day from Mom2Mom! Did you know that one of the reasons our organization was founded was to keep families together? Unfortunately, poverty is a factor that can tear families apart. But, when single moms living in poverty are connected to the resources, support, and community that they need to thrive, the entire family benefits. Thank you to everyone who contributes to our mission; you are changing lives and fostering a better future for vulnerable families in Vancouver 🧡

  • Meet the Mom2Mom team! Last weekend, we got together to develop our next strategic plan. Despite having to be at a 9am meeting on a Saturday, we had such a great time connecting, brainstorming, and sharing why we were drawn to Mom2Mom. One common answer? The grassroots, low-barrier, and tangible support we provide to single moms living in poverty. Seeing the positive impact on children who have supported moms is our reason why! We are so excited for the organization's future and can't wait to see how we grow over the next few years and continue to help families thrive. We would love to hear from you too: what drew you to supporting Mom2Mom?

  • In 2025, we accomplished a lot together. One of those accomplishments was raising $40,000 for children's extracurricular activities. Through Happy Healthy Children, kids have the opportunity to play a sport, learn an instrument, develop important life skills, and bond with their peers. “Watching [my son] excel in taekwondo has been a source of immense pride and joy. He has gained confidence, strength, and a sense of accomplishment. None of this would have been possible without the generous support from Mom2Mom and their donors.” - M2M Participant Read more about Happy Healthy Children and how we are supporting single moms and their families in the blog post below ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gUsR8rtk

  • December recap! ⬇️ We had so much fun at our annual Holiday Movie Event this past December! Participant moms, children, volunteers, and staff gathered to watch a new release (Moana 2), share some pizza, and receive holiday gifts graciously donated by Cause We Care Foundation, Soap For Hope Canada, The Reading Bear, and St. George's School. Shoutout to RBC for supporting this event and volunteering to handout pizzas to families! Our participants look forward to this event every year; it is the perfect opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate the holiday season. Here’s to an incredible 2025 full of more connection. 🩵🧡
