Stop what you're doing, and let's talk about the tea with Forbes and Parasite SEO!!! I just read Lars Lofgren's article, and OMG, I am gagged beyond words Forbes is ranking for everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Pet insurance? They’re #2. CBD gummies? #1. Cockroach removal? Of course, they’re there too. But let’s be real—since when is Forbes the authority on roach infestations and dog food? 😅 Sips tea dramatically The real story? This isn’t even Forbes doing it. In 2020, a completely separate company, Forbes Marketplace, partnered with Forbes to run an affiliate content business. They created the “Forbes Advisor” brand to act as the public-facing entity, but Forbes Marketplace is really pulling the strings. Friends, I shouted "aah" like a Nigerian when I saw the numbers Forbes Marketplace has grown to 27.7 million search visits per month in less than 5 years. For context, it took Nerdwallet 15 years to reach 14 million search visits. Lars estimates Forbes Marketplace could be generating $300-400 million in annual revenue, a drastic increase from their 2021 figures of $29 million. Gulps in shock Forbes Marketplace has become so successful that they’re attempting to purchase Forbes itself. This is the biggest case of parasite SEO I've ever seen Forbes Marketplace is using Forbes brand power and domain authority to rank irrelevant, third-party affiliate content across multiple categories, displacing real experts and niche publishers who can’t compete with Forbes’ authority. And they've been doing this for years, unchecked! If you want to know more about parasite SEO and why it's a problem for our industry, sign up for our next webinar, where Lily Ray will shed more light on it. You gotta love the SEO industry and the nonstop drama we receive 😅

Are you still relying on the “skyscraper” method for SEO? 🏙️ 🏗️ Google’s AI overviews are pushing broad, generic content down the rankings. To stay competitive, focus on engagement by sharing unique, firsthand perspectives. For example, instead of answering “how to train for a marathon,” share personal lessons, mistakes, or niche strategies. 🏃♂️ That’s the content people stick around for — and Google rewards! Learn more in this week’s episode of Whiteboard Friday with Bernard Huang. Watch “Your SEO Content Has a Packaging Problem,” with Bernard Huang as your host on the Moz Blog here: https://mz.cm/4815nGW 📦 You won’t regret it! #WhiteboardFriday
