About us
OUR HISTORY Founded by Elaine Alec, a respected member of the Syilx (Okanagan) and Secwépemc (Shuswap) Nations, Naqsmist Storytellers Inc. began as a consultancy focused on Indigenous planning and community engagement. Over time, we shifted towards educational technology to expand the reach of our work globally. Today, Naqsmist focuses on leadership development and personal growth through the Cultivating Safe Spaces (CSS) framework, promoting systemic change through education and empowerment. OUR VISION We envision a world where everyone has the tools and knowledge to cultivate safe spaces within themselves, empowering them to make positive decisions for their families, communities, nations, and the land. OUR APPROACH At Naqsmist Storytellers Inc., we use the Cultivating Safe Spaces (CSS) framework, developed by Elaine Alec, to guide our programs and initiatives. Rooted in Indigenous principles of respect, community, and interconnectedness, CSS equips individuals and organizations to cultivate inclusive, respectful, and emotionally safe environments. Our offerings include: Executive Leadership Training: Empowering leaders to foster inclusivity, collaboration, and impactful decision-making. True Colors Workshop: Integrates Indigenous knowledge with personality profiling to improve team dynamics and communication. This tool helps teams understand their individual strengths and leadership styles, fostering better collaboration. Educational Programs: Online courses and workshops teaching the principles of CSS, designed for diverse sectors. Community Engagement: Facilitating discussions that promote understanding and respect for Indigenous rights and cultures. Consultancy & Advisory Services: Offering expert guidance to organizations on integrating CSS principles into their operations. Through these services, we have helped leaders and organizations make meaningful changes in how they lead, engage, and cultivate safe spaces.
