#KeepEyesOnSudan

The story of Anwar reflects a painful reality shared by countless Sudanese families. Like Anwar, many are enduring horrific displacement due to ongoing conflict, facing repeated crises that force them from their homes. Today, over 10 million people are displaced internally in Sudan, while more than 2 million have fled to neighboring countries, including Egypt, Chad, South Sudan, Libya, the Central African Republic, Ethiopia, and Eritrea. Many are unable to escape due to financial constraints, dangerous conditions, or the need to care for vulnerable family members. For those who do manage to leave, they confront dire circumstances in overcrowded camps where disease and poverty are rampant, exacerbating the suffering of existing internally displaced persons (IDPs), many of whom were already living in precarious conditions before the violence escalated. Once the second-largest host of refugees in Africa, with over 1.1 million documented refugees, Sudan now struggles to support both its citizens along with the millions who have fled from countries like South Sudan, Eritrea, Syria, and Ethiopia. As the crisis deepens, many individuals, including pre-existing refugee populations, are increasingly resorting to illegal and perilous migration routes, risking their lives in hopes of finding safety in places like Libya or beyond. This tragic reality underscores the urgent need for international attention and support for those caught in this relentless cycle of displacement. Yet, as the war drags on, their stories of suffering and loss are only destined to grow more heartbreaking. Continue to share your stories, along with those of friends and loved ones displaced by this war. Your voice will help shed light on their struggles and amplify the urgent need for compassion and action. Let’s ensure that their experiences are not forgotten and that their plight reaches those who can make a difference. #KeepEyesOnSudan
