Over 600 teams from 200 universities joined this year’s NIBC Global Investment Banking Competition, including our MIMs! The largest international #investmentbanking competition, our INSEAD MIM team made us proud by being invited to the finals by this year’s host - The University of British Columbia. Eventually ranking in the top 13%, our students made a unique mark among the 2000+ participants. Shout out to Guillaume L. Congratulations to UNSW Business School Finance students Marcus Tremellen, Lachlan Holman, Michael Summers and Max Jan, who placed first in the National Investment Banking Competition (NIBC) held earlier this year. The competition, which attracts undergraduate and postgraduate teams from universities globally, saw the team compete with 510 teams to present solutions to a real-world corporate finance scenario. After a rigorous online preliminary round, they travelled to Vancouver for the final stage. ✈️ The team tackled a complex acquisition scenario involving leading beverage brands. Over two days, they presented a compelling pitch to a panel of senior managing directors from top investment banks. Their work and expertise ultimately secured them first place. 👏 The prize money will help them continue honing their skills and compete in international competitions across Europe and the APAC region. We look forward to their continued success!

Recently, my team represented Singapore Management University at the NIBC Global Investment Banking Competition NIBC Global held in Vancouver. I am pleased to share that we were placed top 2%, competing against over 500 teams, including MBA students.    We were tasked to create a proposal regarding Diageo’s acquisition of Rémy Cointreau and pitch it to industry professionals from top banks. While it was challenging, I take pride that my team was able to push through the tireless nights and showcase our skills.   Shoutout to my amazing teammates Nicole Tham, Ching Shuen Tay and Matthew Quek for the hard work since the start of the competition and SMU for the funding! We would also like to thank The University of British Columbia for this platform to meet many inspiring leaders and connect with talented individuals from different universities.    Aside, really glad that we got to explore Canada and make some lasting memories on this trip!

Hey everyone, Quick one to share with you our recent trip to Canada to defend our case in the NIBC Global competition. After last December's first round, we qualified among the top 13% of teams for the final round in Vancouver. It was a challenging week working on a new merger case: Should Diageo acquire Rémy Cointreau ? We pitched our valuation and recommendations to seasoned judges from Valeurs Mobilières TD. Shoutout to Fraser Ince for the valuable feedback. Unfortunately, we didn't win this time. However, our goal was to offer an audacious and creative perspective. We succeeded, maybe too much.. Sparking a lot of debates that lasted into the night 😅! It was a fantastic adventure with Mickael, Stacy, and Emma even though we were very surprised and perhaps outgunned by the significant involvement and resources of other schools and teams. I'm overall super happy to conclude my student life at ESSEC in such a memorable way and excited for what's coming next!

This week, my team had the opportunity to represent Rotman Commerce at the National Investment Banking Competition (NIBC Global) in Vancouver. I am happy to share that we advanced to the semifinals, placing top 13 out of 510 teams after competing with teams from universities around the world, and even some MBA teams! The competition was extremely challenging and required us to create an engaging boardroom presentation about a strategic acquisition proposal within the tight time constraint of just 6 hours (the case opened up at 6am!). I want to give a huge shoutout to my teammates Brandon Wei, Binh Mai, and Young Mo Lee for all of their amazing work, our fellow Rotman Commerce representatives who also gave great presentations, as well as Kirsten Neuendorff and Swati Sharma for making sure we were well prepared entering the competition!

I had the privilege of attending the final round of the National Investment Banking Competition held in Vancouver. Out of over 500 teams, we placed within the top 13%, competing against a global pool of exceptionally talented individuals. This experience allowed us to deepen our understanding of investment banking, forge valuable connections with industry professionals, and demonstrate our capabilities on an international platform. Gratitude to NIBC Global for organizing and orchestrating this remarkable competition. Special recognition goes to my teammates, Angelica De los Santos, An Van, and Puja Patel, whose efforts were instrumental to our success. Over the past week, I've had the pleasure of participating in the final round of the 2024 National Investment Banking Competition held in Vancouver! Among a field of 500+ teams, we secured a position within the top 13%, competing against highly talented and exceptionally talented individuals from across the globe. This competition has not only deepened my understanding of the investment banking industry but also provided invaluable opportunities to network and present our ideas to industry professionals. I am honored for the opportunity to collaborate with my esteemed teammates throughout this journey: Owen Chung Kyra Bendastos and Giorgi Sharabidze. Their dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental to our success in this competition. Special thanks to NIBC Global for orchestrating this exceptional event. It has truly been an enriching and memorable experience.

We are thrilled to announce that our team  Finance Excellence & Development Society has recently finished the Final Round of the NIBC Global Investment Competition 2024! 🎉 Out of 510 teams competing, we are proud to stand out in the top 13%. A huge thank you to NIBC Global Director Spencer Peterson and his dedicated committee for their exceptional organization and management throughout the competition. Their efforts have truly made this experience remarkable. I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my incredible teammates Horace Chi-hong Ho, David Lee, and Harrison C.. Their hard work, dedication, and collaboration have been instrumental in our success. Within the tight timeframe of just 6 and a half hours for our case study, our team delved deep into the M&A case to develop a comprehensive and in-depth strategy. Despite the constraints, we meticulously analyzed every aspect of the case, considering various scenarios and potential outcomes. Through focused collaboration and effective time management, we extracted key insights, identified strategic opportunities, and formulated a robust plan that aligned with our objectives. Participating in this competition has been an invaluable learning experience for us. We've had the privilege of networking with talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, gaining insights into the dynamic world of Investment Banking and Private Equity from both the sell and buy sides. Additionally, the speaker panel has been very insightful for us, as they have helped answer our questions and provided guidance as we pursue the path in the finance track. As we advance to the Final Round, we are eager to continue our journey of growth and exploration in the field of finance. Here's to seizing new opportunities, pushing boundaries, and striving for excellence together!
