About us
Formed in 1996, the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Safety Association (NLCSA) is an industry-driven, not-for-profit association that takes a leadership role in lowering risk and preventing injury within the construction industry. We all share a common purpose to ensure “no harm done” to construction workers in Newfoundland and Labrador. We believe the only way that this can be achieved is if we all work together to develop solutions and deploy best practices that create effective safety cultures. Together, we can make a difference to ensure everyone returns home safely at the end of the day. NLCSA membership is automatic for companies that have an active Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WorkplaceNL) Newfoundland Industrial Classification (NIC) Code associated with the construction industry. Companies that have a WorkplaceNL NIC Code other than the construction industry are eligible for Associate Membership status. Annual associate membership fees are set according to company size. NLCSA is a resource for our members. We provide safety guidance, training, tools, materials, programs, and information. We have a unique understanding of the Newfoundland and Labrador construction industry and the latest regulations and best practices and we are backed by the major industry, labour, and professional organizations representing construction interests in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Our key offering is the Certificate of Recognition™ (COR™) Program, which is specifically designed to help companies institute an effective health and safety management program. In addition, the program emphasizes current safety training, legislative, and due diligence obligations that both employers and workers have under the OH&S Act and Regulations. Our Head office and main training center is located in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. We have additional training centers in Gander and Corner Brook. For a full list of our safety training courses and more information on our services and resources, please visit www.nlcsa.com.
