Food Banks Canada released its annual poverty report card this week and B.C. received a D+ for the second year in a row. The report indicated a number of recommendations to address BC's shortfalls, including that the province needs to: - introduce a new poverty reduction strategy with the goal of reducing poverty by 50% by 2030 - require all political parties to respond to an expert panel on basic income - maintain BC Housing’s capital budget at $1.2 billion per year until 2030 and index it to inflation.
