  • Meet Shannon! Shannon’s infectious energy lifts the spirits of everyone around them, whether working together virtually, or in person. Since joining NDI nearly 2 years ago, Shannon has elevated many of the processes within NDI’s Quality team. Their manager, Darren had this to say: “Shannon shows great aptitude in asking the right questions to help determine compliance of internal processes. They are excellent at understanding regulatory requirements and focusing on what we need to do to meet them”. When asked what working at NDI means to them, Shannon said: “I will always say proudly that I love what I do! My job is all about taking tricky problems, doing a lot of reading and thinking, and coming up with actionable solutions that help us as a company to grow and, ultimately, protect the customer or patient.” Beyond the requirements of their role, Shannon also leads the Gender Equity Group at NDI’s Shelburne location, a group responsible for ensuring that employees who are marginalized by gender have camaraderie, resources, and a sense of belonging within our company. NDI is a better place to work because of people like Shannon, and we feel very fortunate to have them on our team. Thank you, Shannon, for all that you do! #meetouriNDIviduals #teamwork #whyworkhere #jointheteam

What are the foundational components of a navigated spine surgery solution? 👀    NDI is thrilled to stand as the Premier Partner for numerous Medical OEMs showcasing their cutting-edge spine technology at North American Spine Society 2024. These innovations are elevating the standard of patient care and advancing modern procedural approaches such as MISS surgery.  Key components of spine navigation technology consist of:  🔹An optical camera, such as the Polaris® Vega XT or Vega VT, to track Markers.   🔹Markers attached to: large instruments (e.g. exoscope or microscope), robots (end-effectors or base), Fluro imaging devices, and handheld surgical tools.   Markers can be either passive (reflect light) or active (emit light) depending on the system design and surgical application.     ✅ When to choose NDI active markers for robotic spine surgery?     NDI’s Active markers have a low profile and can be built directly into devices requiring navigation, such as the robot end-effector or a complementary imaging device, providing a sleek design and reducing the set-up time for surgical staff and nurses in the operating room.     Active markers have the added benefit of being sterilizable and reusable:  -Can last the lifespan of the robot or imaging devices. -Decreases the disposable costs, making it ideal for budget conscious sites like ASCs.   🛠️ How do active markers work?  The optical camera tracks the Infra-red emitting diode (IRED) and precisely calculates the position and orientation of the components. Surgeons can make the best decision for their patients by attaining accurate data of their surgical instruments and ensure safe pedicle screw placement.    To power the active markers, NDI now provides a ✨ new optional System Control Unit ✨ (SCU) for easy and fast integration into navigated robotic spine solutions.     The key features of the SCU include:  🔹Operation of the active wired tools. 🔹LEDs feedback on power, ethernet activity, speed and SCU status.  🔹Provides 2 MOPP (Means of Patient protection) between components. 👉 Click the link in the comments to discover more about our active markers and SCU, and consider its integration into your orthopedic spine robotic system.      #Neurosurgery #Spinesurgery #Medtech
