Northwood Among the First Continuing Care Nurses Trained to Prescribe Medications. We're continuing to celebrate our five nurses from Northwood and Shoreham Village, who participated in and graduated from Nova Scotia's pioneering RN-AP initiative that trained nurses to be able to prescribe medicines for persons in continuing care. There is also a second group of continuing care nurses that have started the program in early January, and a third will start in this fall. Graduates from this Dalhousie University program can prescribe medications for common health conditions and ailments such as urinary tract infections, nausea and dermatitis. They can also renew prescriptions. Northwood is always eager to collaborate with our partners in academia, provincial health systems and the nursing community so we can continue to be at the forefront of continuing care.
