Last week Team Nova's Myranda Eechaute, CIP, Ken Poort, CIP, ACS, and Ken Worsley set off for #IBAOCon24. This great, two-day event featured industry leaders and innovators providing insights into evolving risk, climate, tech, and change. It was packed full of speakers, sessions, networking opportunities, and new approaches and ideas to learn and discover. It was a busy couple of days, with the largest event attendance yet. We got to see and speak with so many of our broker and industry partners and learned a ton from those valuable conversations. We also made some great new connections which we hope to build on and enjoyed an amazing event with an exciting atmosphere. At Nova, we’re always looking to go above and beyond in how we support our members. We work hard to find trusted vendors in our communities and foster these relationships. The pumpkins have been placed on the pyramids with care, and we are ready to kick off an amazing weekend ahead! Waterford Pumpkinfest is a 100% volunteer-run community festival, celebrating a unique agricultural heritage. This 3-day family event showcases local artists and musicians, engages youth and all of the area schools, welcomes friends from near and far, and preserves the incredible decades long traditions, while building on them year over year. We are so proud to be a sponsor of this great annual event that brings the community together, raising money to give back to so many amazing local initiatives and organizations. As we tear down and tidy up after another incredible year at the fair, we’re looking back as a team at some great memories. Team Nova, along with some great broker partners (Ontario West Insurance Brokers | Bill Blaney Insurance Brokers Ltd. , Haldimand Insurance Brokers Ltd. , McFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers Inc ) had fun together at our booth, bringing a piece of the mural inside Building 4. A few of us also got to have an amazing evening enjoying the concerts. Many of us brought along our family and friends to take in the sights, sounds and splendor of all the fair fun! Thank you so much to the entire Norfolk County Agricultural Society team, the many volunteers and everyone that helped to host such an incredible community event. Thanks to everyone who came by to chat, entered our contest (stay tuned to find out who won tomorrow!) and helped us to create more incredible community memories. “Truly represent the community in a way that the people around are proud of.” The last and final phase of the mural is complete, bringing this entire wall to life with vibrant colour as we excitedly prepare to showcase it at this year’s fair! Three panels, first representing our agricultural heritage and the hard work that our farmers put into the land each day. This hard work then turns hands from farmers to communities at the weekly Farmers’ Market. Lastly, we have cause to celebrate every year at the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show, admiring the fall harvest, and coming home as a community! As with many Community Initiatives, this was a culmination of tons of hard work, with lots of support from so many. This was first a discussion and a dream with Norfolk County Agricultural Society, and we are so grateful for their support and trust to bring it to life. A big thanks also goes to: Equipment Centre, literally the sky was the limit, and they helped us to get there! Bryan at Sherwin-Williams for your time and expertise. Mayor Amy Martin, Norfolk County for your support and kind words during the project. Steve from Townsend Butchers for his passion for this project. Our team for their design, dedication, and hard work bringing it to life. To our mini team members who eagerly gave their time to help out. Our Leadership and Management Teams recently had the incredible opportunity to attend off-site training. This impactful two-day conference was full of amazing learning including a kickoff, numerous workshops, a team dinner, and a Boad Governance 101 session. This training is important in building a cohesive team, re-affirming our values and purpose to exceptional member experiences. Working together as a team, we developed a Team Alliance outlining clear expectations and actions to motivate, inspire and create an environment of success. When employees find purpose and understanding in their work, it creates an environment where a committed team thrives on mutual goals and aspirations. These sessions encouraged sharing and an opportunity for transparency and vulnerability. They allowed us to learn from each other and grow together as a team. It was a great bonding experience, bringing the team together to connect, collaborate, and stretch outside of our comfort zones. Thank you to Michelle and Fernando for facilitating such incredible and impactful sessions, to Anthea for sharing your wealth of knowledge on Board Governance 101, and to all the team for showing up authentically and being courageous to try something new!

Our COO Ken Worsley recently sat on the Market Insights Panel of the PL University. Offered by McDougall Insurance & Financial/McFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers Inc to some of their personal lines brokers with a focus on developing their sales skills and knowledge. The topics covered included auto theft, insurance to value, the take all comers auto provision, and emerging threats and coverages. We appreciate this opportunity to work with the great team at McDougall and McFarlan Rowlands Insurance Brokers across Ontario in support of continuous learning.
