Exciting News: Introducing NP Circle After thoughtful reflection and valuable feedback from our community, I’m excited to share an important update. While Nursing Lane has been a meaningful part of our journey, it’s time for a name that better reflects who we are today and where we’re headed. I’m proud to introduce NP Circle, Canada’s leading community for Nurse Practitioners (NPs). This new name represents our growth and who we’ve become—a supportive, connected network of nearly 1,500 NPs across the country, coming together from coast to coast to learn, share, and grow as professionals. While our name has changed, our mission remains clear: to connect and empower NPs across Canada with the resources and support they need to thrive. NP Circle reflects that commitment and our vision for a strong, united NP community. Thank you to our members, partners, and supporters. A special thank you to Claudia Mariano and our advisory board members—Crystal Northcott, Helen Nicolle, Lida Pena, Erin O'Shaughnessy, Stephanie L., Sarah Ilori, Shahmeena Khan, Rachel Koh, Alix Consorti, and Kathryn Flanigan. ICYMI: Our position statement on Consumption and Treatment Services is a must read! Consumption and Treatment Services (CTS) act as integrated service hubs that provide not only intervention in overdoses, but low-barrier access to mental health services, primary care and addictions treatment provided by NPs and other healthcare providers. CTS offer crucial services which decrease drug toxicity deaths as well as the transmission of infectious diseases through shared drug use equipment and connect service users to wrap around care such as housing and case management. The closure and prohibition of new CTS sites places Ontarians at higher risk of overdose deaths. The removal of these services will place additional strain on primary care, emergency medical services, and emergency rooms, leading to increased wait times for all Ontarians. #NPAO advocates for accelerating the creation of multiple flexible funding models to facilitate the appropriate integration of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) across the healthcare system and within healthcare teams. NPs practice within almost every medical specialty and often provide extremely specialized care. Flexible funding models will allow NPs to serve patients to their full potential and grant them the ability to meet the growing demand for healthcare services. At a time when there is a shortage of primary care and specialty providers, NPs represent an underutilized resource to connect more patients with high-quality, timely care.
