Let’s get constructively disruptive to improve the lives of people living with obesity!
What a powerful keynote from Elizabeth Teisberg here at #ICHOM2024 where she urged everyone to be outraged when healthcare outcomes do not align with what we know to be possible, poor outcomes are not ok and change is only fueled by our collective outrage. “We must not sanitize mediocrity” A message relevant for every healthcare space, but one that resonates with me and the work in the obesity space. For far to long we have been a bit passive in demanding change, but the time has come to recognize that we can and must do better for people living with obesity. Yesterday someone else used the term “constructively disruptive” which is lingering in my brain and something I am taking home with me to put into action. Thanks International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) for such an inspiring event. Obesity Canada – Obésité Canada Lisa Schaffer Nicole Pearce

📊 New Survey: 4 out of 5 Quebecers Call for Greater Support for Obesity from Government and Public Health. A Léger survey shows the majority of Quebecers want stronger government and public health support for obesity care. Obesity is a complex, chronic disease, and these findings highlight the need for better access to treatments and policy changes. Obesity Canada supports the need to shift societal and healthcare attitudes to recognize obesity as a chronic disease, ensuring equitable care and access to resources for all, as a matter of health equity and justice. #ObesityCanada #ObesityCare #PublicHealth #ChronicDisease #EndWeightBias
