Obsidian 1.7.2 (early access) is now available to Catalyst members for desktop and mobile! Startup time and and memory usage are significantly improved with this update. Views now load only when visible. Be aware this might cause issues with some plugins, but we've published a guide for plugin developers. This update also includes Obsidian URI improvements: - new clipboard parameter to insert the contents of the clipboard. - new prepend to add to the top of the file. - prepend and append will both attempt to merge properties. - new daily URI action to open or create your daily note.

Obsidian 1.7.1 (early access) is now available to Catalyst members for desktop and mobile. Startup time is significantly faster on mobile. For vaults with 10,000+ notes you can expect to see at least 50% reduction in load time. Editable page previews and footnotes are also improving quickly. Page previews stay open even if the window loses focus or the command palette appears. Pressing "Esc" instantly closes the page preview while editing.

Obsidian appeared for the first time in Stack Overflow's 2024 dev survey and is already second to Markdown files for most admired async work tool. "Obsidian users have no desire to try any other asynchronous tools next year, and nine different groups of asynchronous tools users would like to switch to see why next year."

Nice to see Google Docs rolling out better Markdown support. If you use Obsidian this will make it easier to collaborate with your coworkers who need to use Docs. I ran into this often at my previous company when working on blog posts and internal memos. Next, I'd love to see Google add support for copy/pasting Markdown

Obsidian 1.6.7 is now available to all for desktop and mobile with a few bug fixes. - Fixed app freezing when closing a pop-out window while Obsidian Sync is syncing the active file. - Fixed memory leak when disabling plugins that register custom ribbon buttons. - Fixed an issue where old file history was missing from the sync history view after renaming a file. - Fixed collapse indicators displaying the wrong direction next to right-to-left text. - Fixed overlap of indicators and bullets with right-to-left text.
