Cancer Solved Together
About us
Each year, more than 14 million people worldwide are diagnosed with cancer and more than eight million people die from the disease. New tools are urgently needed to better prevent, detect, diagnose and treat cancer so that people can live longer and healthier lives. The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is a collaborative, not-for-profit research institute that conducts and enables high-impact translational cancer research to accelerate the development of discoveries for patients around the world while maximizing the economic benefit of this research for the people of Ontario. OICR is ensuring Ontario’s world-class cancer research findings are benefiting patients and the Ontario economy. Here’s how we make that happen: -We conduct cross-disciplinary research in fields such as genomics, immuno-oncology, informatics, drug discovery, and molecular pathology with partners in health care, research, government and the private sector; -We enable research in Ontario and worldwide by building collaborative networks, securely sharing data and making tools and resources available to the research community; -We translate our research findings to the clinic by developing clinical guidelines, supporting clinical trials and commercializing our innovations with our partner Fight Against Cancer Innovation Trust. Our vision Cancer Solved Together. Our mission Partner with the Ontario oncology community to accelerate the development and implementation of clinically important knowledge, products, services and policies to improve cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment and enable patients in Ontario and worldwide to live longer and better lives. ❗️New funding opportunity: OICR invites applications for Innovation to Implementation (I2I) awards Through the I2I funding competition, OICR seeks to bridge the gaps between research products and their use in real-world settings by facilitating behaviour or system changes. We are currently inviting applications for projects that are in-scope, including: ✅ Projects aimed at facilitating the adoption of research output, interventions, policies, or practices in the healthcare system using scientific methods and drawing on implementation science. ✅ Projects focused on developing and testing implementation science methods or strategies to facilitate uptake and integration of research outputs, interventions, policies, or practices in the healthcare system. ✅ Projects investigating the barriers to implementation or developing optimal solutions to implementation challenges in the context of the Ontario healthcare system. ✅ Projects evaluating the comparative effectiveness and cost effectiveness of different implementation strategies in the oncology ecosystem. Deadlines: Open for applications (via ReportNet): The week of October 7, 2024 Letter of Intent (LOI) deadline: December 5, 2024 by 5 p.m. ET LOI results communicated: Week of February 17, 2025 Full application deadline: April 10, 2025 by 5 p.m. ET Notification of results: June 2025 Funding start date: July 1, 2025 For more details and to view the RFA, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gnWmfJSd

CanPath is teaming up with the Canadian Urban Environmental Health Research Consortium (CANUE) to bring you 17 new environmental exposure datasets! 🌿🌍 Discover datasets that include measures of green spaces and vegetation (e.g., NDVI, Landsat, MODIS), air quality (PM2.5, smoke exposure), accessibility and transportation, and socioeconomic conditions. Our expert presenters will showcase practical examples of how these datasets can revolutionize research on chronic diseases, cancer, and environmental health. Learn about powerful tools to explore the spatial dimensions of health determinants. This webinar is a must-attend for researchers, epidemiologists, data scientists, and public health professionals alike who are eager to expand their toolkit and leverage nationally harmonized cohort data to uncover the impact of environmental exposures on health. Presenters: ⭐ Dr. Trevor Dummer, National Scientific Co-Director of CanPath ⭐ Sheraz Cheema, MSc (MHI), Data Manager at CanPath ⭐ Dany Doiron, Managing Director of CANUE ⭐ Joseph Syer, CANUE Data Director Register now and join us for an inspiring webinar! #HealthResearch #EnvironmentalHealth #DataScience #PublicHealth #Epidemiology #CanPath15 #15YearsAndCounting

Oral cancers are typically imaged at the time of diagnosis, about month or two before a patient has surgery. Researchers with OICR’s Imaging Program have developed an ultrasound scanner that in just 15 minutes can provide accurate, up-to-date information about the size and shape of the tumour just prior to surgery, which can help improve surgical outcomes. https://lnkd.in/eR5xgHM2 #oralcancer #ultrasound #imaging
