Palliative care in long-term care homes is essential to offering comprehensive and compassionate support to residents, enhancing their quality of life through all stages of serious illness. On #WorldHospiceAndPalliativeCareDay, we celebrate the interprofessional teams who ensure that residents receive person-centered care that honours their wishes and cultural preferences. By integrating cultural humility into our approach, we ensure that care is respectful, inclusive, and honours the diverse needs of those living in LTC. Check out the Ontario CLRI Communication End of Life Fund and related learning materials to enhance team members’ competencies in providing both palliative care and end-of-life care to residents ,their families and care partners. The CEoL Education Fund aims to improve the quality of care residents and families receive by creating an environment that supports the continual enhancement of palliative care in LTC homes.
