CALL TO ACTION: Canada Revenue Agency - HST Tax still needs to be collected by RSSWs providing psychotherapy and counselling services in Ontario. RSSWs are the LAST regulated mental health professional in Ontario, required to charge HST on clinical services for psychotherapy and counselling. OSSWA, will be directing it's action plan in the next few weeks to the Canada Revenue Agency detailing how this issue can be solved, together. Let's make access to mental health care equitable and fair for all.

Ontario Social Service Worker Association Statement on Recent Social Media Comments The Ontario Social Service Worker Association (OSSWA) is aware of concerns raised by members regarding comments circulating on social media. These comments appear to contradict the association's official communications related to HST for Registered Social Service Workers (RSSWs) in Ontario. As previously communicated, the association has engaged with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regarding the HST issue, which is currently under review. While OSSWA cannot influence CRA’s internal processes, it remains committed to working proactively to address the matter. An Action Plan is being developed in collaboration with stakeholders across Ontario, and OSSWA will continue to provide updates as they become available. We remind members that official communications will always be disseminated through the following platforms: OSSWA email updates OSSWA website: www.osswa.ca OSSWA social media pages on Facebook and LinkedIn It is important to note that independent social media pages, while often useful for networking, event sharing, and educational resources, are not affiliated with the association. These external platforms may or may not be moderated, and OSSWA does not endorse or control the content shared there. The association moderates its own social media in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). For further information on these guidelines, please visit: OCSWSSW Social Media Guidelines OCSWSSW Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice If you encounter inappropriate content on external platforms, we encourage you to address the matter directly with the page moderators. Should this not be feasible, we advise members to consult the relevant guidelines for further direction.
