This Remembrance Day, the Paul W. O’Leary Foundation honors Warrant Officer (Retired) John O’Leary, son of Paul W. O’Leary, for his remarkable service with the Canadian Armed Forces. From 1990 to 2017, John served Canada with dedication and bravery, beginning his career with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Regiment, moving on to the Governor General’s Foot Guards, and finally serving in the Military Intelligence Branch. His commitment took him on deployments to Bosnia, the Persian Gulf, and Afghanistan, where he represented our nation with honor and resilience. Today, we remember John’s sacrifices and those of all who have served, reflecting on their profound impact on our freedoms and peace. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #PaulWOLearyFoundation #CanadianArmedForces

The Kayapo prople protect what is important to us all. This latest episode on Keepers of Biodiversity on Re:Wild shares their world with us. We at the Paul W O’Leary Foundation are honored to help support their work and culture to live in harmony with our Mother Earth.
The Kayapo exemplify resilience, courage, and hope. Their 24-million-acre territory in the southeastern Amazon stands as a critical biodiversity stronghold, holding the line against rampant deforestation in the region. Along their vast 1,300-mile border, strategically placed guard posts and regular patrols by foot and boat help safeguard their legally recognized lands from illegal logging, mining, and fishing. ICFC is excited to share the newly released episode of Keepers of Biodiversity; a ten-part series brought to us by Re:wild and Mullu TV. All footage was captured by members of Coletivo Beture, a Kayapo-led filmmaking collective. Learn more about ICFC's flagship project today by visiting: www.kayapo.org

In October, a group of wonderful Beaches Sandbox supporters came together to demonstrate the power of community at our Whisky for Dessert FUNdraiser—our first-ever fundraising event! We shared testimonials and stories from those who’ve enjoyed and benefited from our programs, heard firsthand from Councillor Brad Bradford about how his own family has created wonderful memories at Beaches Sandbox, and reflected on how far our charity has come since it was launched by founders Paulette O’Leary and Jason Schuy only a few years ago. The funds raised at this event will go a long way in supporting our mission and programs, helping to ensure that Beaches Sandbox remains a place where people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds can connect and have fun!

Kayapo Update (Part 4): Education, Ecotourism, and Intercultural Exchanges Kayapo communities are expanding sustainable, community-based exchange programs, offering unique opportunities for non-Kayapo participants to learn from Indigenous instructors. These programs showcase Kayapo knowledge, culture, and land preservation, fostering appreciation that contrasts with local frontier attitudes. Key initiatives include catch-and-release sport fishing on the Iriri and Xingu Rivers with Untamed Angling and ecotourism on the Xingu River. In 2025, the Equipe do Bá (Forest Team) program will be expanded, which combines traditional ecological knowledge with modern technical skills like camera trapping, drone use, photography, and filmmaking. #Conservation #Kayapo #IndigenousRights #AmazonProtection #ICFC #Support

Kayapo Update (Part 3): Strengthening Defense This year, the Kayapo Project added a 16th guard post, further securing 9 million hectares of Indigenous land. These posts signal that the Kayapo are organized and ready to defend their territory from illegal loggers, miners, and fishermen. The guard post program not only protects the land but also supports equitable income distribution and resists outside bribery. In 2024, multimedia education was introduced to reinforce cultural and territorial autonomy, reaching 2,500 Kayapo guardians. ICFC is seeking additional support to keep the guard posts operational through the end of the year. If you can help, please consider donating today! #Conservation #Kayapo #IndigenousRights #AmazonProtection #ICFC #Support
