Coca-Cola Canada is partnering with Pollution Probe and the Great Lakes Plastic Cleanup initiative to support the use of PixieDrone, a remote-controlled waste collector designed to remove floating debris like plastic, glass, and metal from the Great Lakes. The drone can collect about 42 gallons of waste per six-hour charge. After being tested on Lake Simcoe, the drone will be deployed across the Great Lakes starting next spring, joining over 135 other plastic capture technologies. Coca-Cola emphasizes this initiative as part of its broader efforts to address plastic waste and environmental sustainability. Bavarian Nordic is donating 40,000 doses of its mpox vaccine to Africa CDC, along with a 175,420-dose supply from the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA). This totals 215,420 doses to address mpox outbreaks in Africa, where 2,863 cases and 517 deaths have been reported in 13 countries. The African CDC will oversee vaccine distribution, with HERA also providing €3.5 million to enhance mpox diagnostics and sequencing.
