PTAC follows Government of Canada-approved methodologies to substantiate environmental claims. These methodologies are either third party verified, considered standard engineering practice, or both. PTAC is committed to facilitating research and technology development for the collective benefit of all participants in the Canadian hydrocarbon energy industry. Recent amendments to the Competition Act have introduced uncertainties with respect to how research results are communicated. Out of an abundance of caution, PTAC will not publicly share new environmental performance metrics for the projects we facilitate until the Government of Canada defines “adequate and proper substantiation in accordance with internationally recognized methodology.”Once defined, PTAC will ensure all environmental benefit claims meet this standard and will once again publish the data on our website and social media. All documents and other information are provided as of June 18, 2024 for historical purpose only. For inquiries regarding environmental performance metrics, please contact PTAC at info@ptac.org. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in the interim.

UNIVERSITIES PLAY A CRITICAL ROLE IN ADVANCING CLIMATE SOLUTIONS... ...and the University of Calgary is right there among the post-secondary leaders, offering true interdisciplinary leadership through the passions and talents of "pracademics" like Ian Gates, PhD, PEng, FCAE . Pracademic is a word-blend of practical and academic, connoting a unique synergy of practice and scholarship that is critical in advancing accelerated climate solutions that balance technological and societal dynamics. Dr. Gates is off to COP29 Azerbaijan in Baku in November as part of the Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN) effort to bring Canadian context and competencies at the UNFCCC UN annual Conference of the Parties...the 198 countries which support global climate efforts. During one of a series of pre-Baku podcasts I'm leading on behalf of CRIN, he and I unpacked the myriad layers of opportunity his university offers across faculties and the messages he'll take to the world and the learnings he'll bring back. In particular, we explored how scholars and students can drive critical innovation in technology scale-up that accelerates synchronously with #climatechange. Other podcast guests include Marc Godin of the Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada, Dagmar H. Knutson of Ten Peaks Innovation Alliance, Scott Volk of Tourmaline Oil Corp, Justin Riemer of Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) and Nannette Ho-Covernton of Avatar Innovations Inc. The podcasts will launch on the Spreaker platform in the first week, just prior to the CRIN team heading off to Baku. Huge appreciation to the awesome team at Ear Candy for their patience, guidance and superb technical expertise.
