At the Diablillos project, an #epithermal silver-gold deposit in Argentina, we conducted a case study to validate drill collar data using an independent PhotoSat satellite survey. By comparing data from 2006 and 2017, our survey highlighted probable survey errors on 11 out of 206 drill hole collars from the 2006 data set. All 2017 drill holes appear to have correct horizontal and vertical survey coordinates. #Satellite surveying offers a methodology to verify the location and offset of drill collars independently. The validation of the drill collar location increased confidence in the further development of exploration and development projects. Learn more below. Executive Director, World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) || Building and elevating the geospatial community
While in Vancouver, BC this week it was a pleasure to be able to visit the offices of World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) Associate Member PhotoSat. Andrea Krupa, Veronique Nell, P.Eng, and the entire PhotoSat team are doing innovative data collection and processing to help keep mines safe around the world (did you know that some potholes at mines have been known to swallow entire trucks!). Thank you for the hospitality and for being a valued member of WGIC!

Many older #tailings facilities lack complete records of deposition and construction. The topographic surfaces (DEM) below show the Jagersfontein Tailings Dam, dating back to the 1970s. These surfaces were produced by processing archive imagery from Keyhole, WorldView, and Sentinel #satellites. By compiling multiple WV3 alteration minerals in vector format, it is possible to identify patterns in the spatial distribution and association of various alteration mineral assemblages. Check out this example from Red Mountain, BC, below. Our alteration mineral maps are interpretation-ready, so they can be easily combined with other datasets, such as geology, geophysics, or geochemistry, to help identify potential mineralization.
