We are incredibly proud of the progress we have made in our River District community. What began as a vision over 10 years ago is now a vibrant waterfront community home to over 3,000 residents with an array of amenities, from the restaurants, shops, and services at River District Town Centre to 1.5km of waterfront paths and acres of green space. One of many many MANY 5000+ unit developments projects in Hong Kong. These projects are privately owned, maintained long term by a very similar strata model, and are done in a repeatable, modular way. Floor plates are identical for shapes and sizes for most of these units if not all to maximize usable space and construction speed and cost. Units are not very architecturally inspiring but built at a time where there was and still is, a housing crisis 🤔. When "cookie cutter" was a good thing and it meant more roofs over people's heads instead of complex and "unique" (I argue not very much most of the time) condo projects. Planners, Architects and Developers, when will we see the "Model T" for housing in North America so it becomes much more financially accessible, with a lower carbon footprint, and can be built much faster?! #housing #development #modular

KMBR Architects is excited to announce the grand opening of the École Hammond Bay Elementary School expansion project in Nanaimo, BC. The project expanded the school to accommodate an additional 295 students with 11 modern classrooms, a kindergarten room and a dynamic multi-purpose room used for band that is designed to inspire creativity in students. The expansion eliminated the need for portables on site. We've received enthusiastic feedback from both officials and students, with one grade-7 student expressing, “I’m so happy but sad because I have to leave this beautiful building.” We would like to recognize our exceptional project team: Herold Engineering Limited Rocky Point Engineering Ltd. We’re proud to share that Panorama Ridge Industrial has won a Tilt-Up Achievement Award from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association. Composed of 115 insulated concrete tilt-up panels, this 308,240 SF facility includes a 56,210 SF semi-recessed parkade. Utilizing a 40-foot tall shotcrete retaining wall, we were able to maximize site coverage in order to create highly functional warehouse space for Metro Vancouver businesses.
