How long you walk with that pebble in your metaphorical shoe is up to you. Being human means it can be easy to get a thought echo (rumination) occasionally. Or pick up a grudge, or perhaps hold onto something from our past that no longer helps us. It can be surprisingly challenging to open a window and let the echo fly off, grudges can be quite sticky and letting go of something that once saved us is biologically counterintuitive. But it is possible. I share a fun penguin leadership cartoon every day on LinkedIn. Ignoring Conflict: A Costly Leadership Mistake Ignoring conflict can be a leader's worst enemy. It leads to resentment, decreased morale, and a toxic work environment. But fear not! The Strengths Deployment Inventory 2.0 (SDI 2.0) can help you understand your conflict style and build the confidence to address it head-on. Combined with coaching, you'll learn effective strategies to navigate challenging conversations and create a more harmonious workplace. Potentials Edge is proud to be trained in the SDI 2.0 and a partner of Core Strengths. We are experienced coaches who can help you leverage the insights from the SDI to develop your leadership skills and create a more positive workplace culture. Studies show that unresolved conflict can cost organizations a significant amount of money. In fact, a study by CPP Inc. published in 2010 found that U.S. employees spend an average of 2.8 hours per week dealing with conflict, which translates to approximately $359 billion in lost productivity. Additionally, conflict can lead to increased absenteeism, decreased morale, and even turnover, further adding to the financial burden. What is conflict costing you? By investing in conflict resolution skills, leaders can create a more productive and positive work environment, ultimately saving their organizations money and improving their bottom line.
