“I love being an anesthesiologist because the work is rewarding," says Dr. Tim Oliveira. "The patients are very appreciative when you can get them through whatever they are coming in for. We do a lot of procedural skills, and we also use our brains to apply medical knowledge daily. I think the combination of those two things makes me enjoy my job.” Learn more about what it’s like to work at PRHC as an anesthesiologist, and consider applying today: https://lnkd.in/e9RAgrNs

If you’re visiting the Emergency Department (ED) at PRHC this long weekend, please know that your wait time may be a little longer than usual. We continue to encourage our community members to assess the urgency of their condition and consider alternative options before coming to the Emergency Department (ED). A list of options, including Peterborough Family Health Team and other primary care providers (including after-hour services), virtual care clinics, PRHC's Pediatric Urgent Care (POP) Clinic, walk-in clinics, and Health 811, can be found here: https://bit.ly/49PptnF

Emergency Departments are not first-come, first-served — they use something called triage to decide which patients are seen first. Just because someone doesn’t look as sick as you, doesn’t mean their condition isn’t more serious. The triage nurse in the Emergency Department is trained to assess your medical condition and determine the level of care you need. While longer wait times can be frustrating, it’s important to understand that our healthcare workers need to prioritize patients who require more urgent care.
