About us
We are on a mission to futureproof Canada, one project at a time. From changing your city's skyline to restoring heritage, we have been engineering vibrant spaces for more than seven decades. Our impact includes buzzworthy projects in structural engineering, restoration, and glass design. We are equally enthusiastic about building science, building energy modelling, and state-of-the-art parking garage design. You may have heard of our work from headline-grabbing projects like the BMO Centre Expansion, CIBC SQUARE, The Stack, M City Condos, St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church Restoration and The Well, to name a few. These projects are made possible because our engineers have a reputation for thinking ahead. Bridging sustainability and innovation, we are proud when we deliver designs that challenge the status quo. With offices across Canada, and a growing presence in the U.S., our clients get the ‘RJC advantage’ with personal attention from senior-level engineers who know the challenges of their local neighbourhoods first-hand. We believe that an elevated space for the community trickles down to an elevated lifestyle. For us, every project is a new chance to make connections, while serving the communities we belong to by injecting fresh designs into the spaces they will use every day.

What does it take to design a glass canopy that's 500+ feet long? 💡 🔎 The Well's Instagram-famous design is made of roughly 1,800 pieces of glass, connecting towers from three storeys in the air. This massive 7.8-acre space was once Toronto’s largest active construction site. 🏗 🚧 Today, The Well is a popular destination spot with curated retailers ✨🛍️, luxury condos & top-tier offices. 🧑💻 When will you visit? 🤝 Project Partners: Allied Properties REIT, Diamond Corp. & RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust 🏛 Architects: Adamson Associates Architects, architectsAlliance, BDP Quadrangle, Hariri Pontarini Architects & Wallman Architects #structuralengineers #structuralglass #glassdesign #downtowntoronto #thewell #constructionmanagement #engineeringconsultants

Calgary's updated skyline featuring the BMO Centre Expansion! 🤠 🙌 We ❤️ this capture from Scotsman's Hill by Apex Media Works. On Calgary Stampede grounds, the BMO Centre Expansion transforms the beloved venue into Western Canada’s largest convention centre. This half-billion-dollar renovation more than doubles the centre’s floor space, adding 565K square feet. Go big or go home, right?! The reimagined BMO Centre also boasts Canada’s largest indoor fireplace 🔥, a structural framework with 9,000+ metric tonnes of steel & a 50K square foot ballroom. 🏟️ 🎉 💼 Partners: Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, City of Calgary, PCL Construction, S2 Architecture, Stantec & The Calgary Stampede 👷♀️ RJCers on the Project: Annelise Loczy, Chris Davis, Cory Getz, Geoff Kallweit, Lael Dilworth, Leo Tonaco & Mckinley Hori #BMOcentre #structuralsteel #structuralengineers #canadianarchitecture #calgarystampede #calgaryalberta #engineers

RJC Calgary is all smiles while fixing up a tasty, Greek-style dinner at their local Ronald McDonald House. 👩🍳 🇬🇷 Prepping a meal after a long day at the hospital can be stressful. With support from volunteers, Ronald McDonald House Charities take away this stress for families. 🛒 🥗 🧆 As part of the Home for Dinner program, Team Calgary went on a grocery haul & cooked up a flavourful dinner for families staying at the House. The Calgary Corporate Challenge is on! 🙌 Home for Dinner is just one of many team-building activities our Calgary office will tackle as they compete for a big win in the 2024 September Games. These Games are a great way for teams to promote Calgary Corp Challenge values: Employee Engagement, Health & Wellness, Supporting the Community, and Keeping it Local. 🎉 💪 Let's go team! #calgaryalberta #teambonding #corporatechallenge #ronaldmcdonald #engineeringfirm #engineeringconsultancy

This is how office conversions help address Toronto's homeless crisis: https://bit.ly/47kn3Np 🏢 👉 🏡 An estimated 10,627 people were "actively homeless" in the last three months, according to data from the City of Toronto. Numbers like this call for creative solutions. 💡 Transforming empty offices into shelters is one that's picked up traction. “Our team has been responsible for directly creating 404 beds in the Toronto Shelter system & that system is near or at 100% every night,” says RJC Principal Paul Fritze in conversation with SiteNews. “We probably wouldn’t have been able to turn around these projects if it wasn’t for a conversions approach.” Our work at projects like 4117 Lawrence Ave. East & 101 Placer Court meant changing older, unused buildings into spaces that serve an important community need. ✅ Both reimagined locations are equipped to service homeless community members with lots of beds & dining spaces among other amenities. “As a structural engineers, we don’t necessarily get to do such socially impactful work every day, so this is near & dear to us as it creates a tangible difference." #engineeringproject #homelessness #structuralengineers #torontoontario #engineeringconsultants #cityoftoronto

Reduce. ♻️ Electrify. 🔋 Adapt. 🚀 September 9 to 13 is 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤. Led by the World Green Building Council, this week unites 75+ councils from around the globe. 🌎 🤝 Together, we spread awareness about how we can build more sustainable environments, locally & internationally. This year's theme is 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. That means taking a closer look at how the building & real estate sectors must adapt to accelerate green, resilient & zero-carbon designs. ➡️ Let’s take steps for a better future. ⬅️ This week & every week, Team RJC is thrilled to join leaders from around the world in sharing ideas for a greener built environment. 💡 💚 The path to sustainability can seem complex, but what matters is that we're all taking strides in the right direction. 📸 This photo captures RJC at NHICE-04, the University of Victoria's 4th International Conference on New Horizons in Green Civil Eng. Our sustainability superstars shared insights on 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 which is great for low-carbon construction & 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬, one of the best ways to reduce carbon emissions now! Knowledge-sharing at an event like this is a great way to walk the road to zero carbon & resilience. 💪 💭 How will you join us? #BuildingTheTransition #WGBW24 #zerocarbon #netzero #carbonreduction #engineeringconsultants
