On Tuesday we hosted Real Ventures’ Annual Meeting. While planning, we asked ourselves standard questions one would ask when planning any event. Why would people attend? What do they expect? What do they want to hear from us? Until finally we thought, we’re not asking the right questions. Instead, maybe we should be wondering what can we contribute to the ecosystem? The answer, we believe, is a new #perspective 🌟 A heartfelt thank you to our keynote speaker Nate Hagens, Director of the Institute for the Study of Energy and Our Future and host of The Great Simplification. His thought-provoking presentation illuminated the relationship between humanity’s #energyconsumption, GDP, and culture, shedding light on the probable future scenarios facing us should we continue to operate as we are now. Nate ended his speech by emphasizing the #shifts that businesses and organizations need to embrace to contribute to a #viablefuture. We will soon be sharing a recording of his talk. Stay tuned! Thank you as well to our wonderful speakers Chris Labelle, Drew Taylor, Marina Pavlovic Rivas, and Niraj Mathur, and of course to our facilitator Michelle Holliday for facilitating a series of activities inviting everyone to engage in deep reflection and conversations about the Startup and VC ecosystem as it is today and what they could look like tomorrow. Finally, and certainly not least, THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for your openness and your willingness to consider a new perspective when imagining tomorrow. #imaginetomorrow
