The nuclear renaissance continues, with more and more industry giants, tech titans, and investors warming to the promise of nuclear power in a world that needs more Canadian energy. The prime minister said there was no business case for exporting LNG to Europe back in 2022, the same year he signed deal to ship hydrogen there by 2025 instead. It is now nearly the end of 2024, and only baby steps have been made towards that goal. Meanwhile, Germany and the rest of Europe are struggling with high energy prices and economic pain. #hydrogen #LNG

Fortescue Ltd. has canceled its $2B hydrogen project in Prince George, citing the need for better power pricing and availability. Project Coyote is now on hold as the company focuses on more viable global projects. This is a major huge blow to the growth of new energy projects in British Columbia, and we hope this is not the first of many more cancelled major projects here. #hydrogen #energy

Canada needs to get the house in order when it comes speeding up approvals for new mines and creating a climate of certainty for investment in both critical mineral exploration and mining. It is not just about the energy transition or the economy, it is also a matter of national security, as laid out by Jonathan Price of Teck Resources Limited. #mining #canada https://lnkd.in/gDUX8cht

Cassiar is a reminder of what can happen when resource communities are gutted by industry pulling up stakes. The town depended on the local asbestos mine to sustain the community and provide for families. When the mine went, Cassiar swiftly dwindled into a ghost town. Let us be clear, British Columbia and the rest of Canada have moved on from asbestos mining, and it should stay that way. However, what is left of Cassiar stands as a cautionary tale of how vibrant communities can disappear without a strong resource-based economy. https://lnkd.in/gAkfuidz
