We’re making this cozy season even cozier by sharing a wholesome story behind our member, Seafair Gourmet Meats! 🍁✨ Meet the faces behind Richmond’s go-to butcher shop, where every cut is served with a touch of tradition and care. Seafair Gourmet Meats has been a cornerstone of the community for over 40 years. This small, family-owned business is more than just a butcher shop - it’s a place where tradition, community, and quality come together. They pride themselves on carrying unique, high-quality local products unavailable in big grocery stores. Seafair offers a wide selection of delicious cured and dry-aged meats as well as eggs, artisanal cheeses, and other sustainable fine food products to complement your main dish. Through their diverse product selection, Seafair is committed to supporting local small businesses and offering something special. Owned and operated by the Newman family, this butcher shop is rooted in tradition, quality, and personal customer service that sets it apart from big-box retailers. Heath Newman, who works alongside his mother, Melinda Newman, has taken the reins in modernizing the shop without losing its traditional roots. Heath has been instrumental in introducing top-quality new products and local vendors, which has become a key aspect of their business model. Heath emphasizes that customers return not just for the premium products but also for the excellent service and familiarity that Seafair offers. “We don’t want our customers to feel like just another number,” Heath says. “We want them to feel like they’re part of a community.” Running a butcher shop in a rapidly changing market hasn’t been without its challenges, from the impact of big box retailers and changing demographics to the difficulty of finding skilled butchers, a trade that’s becoming increasingly rare. Yet, despite these obstacles, their guiding principle remains clear: “Our motto is to treat people the way you want to be treated,” Melinda explains, a philosophy that extends to both customers and staff. For them, being part of the Richmond community is about more than just running a business — it’s about being a pillar in the lives of the people they serve. Over the years, the family has expanded their operation with a second location — Newmans Fine Foods in Tsawwassen, offering a different selection of products, including soups, sandwiches, and catering. As a business that has grown alongside the community, Seafair Gourmet Meats continues to strive to create a place where, no matter how much the city grows or changes, people will always feel at home. By supporting a family-owned business like Seafair, residents are not only enjoying products crafted with care but are also contributing to the local economy and ensuring that Richmond’s unique, homegrown businesses continue to thrive. What a day it was! 🙌 On Sept 14th, we traded umbrellas for trash bags and got to work on Richmond’s shores! With over 60 amazing volunteers, we collected more than 4500 lbs of debris from our beautiful shorelines, including 1,100 lbs of metal that was successfully diverted. 🌊♻️ Some of the interesting finds included an old truck canopy, a burnt safe, a TV, lawn furniture, and even a full car engine! A huge thank you to our partners Platinum Pro-Claim Restoration & 505-Junk for making this all possible. Can’t wait to do it again next year! 😊 View the full album: https://lnkd.in/gE9-VzaA #Sustainability #CommunityImpact #RichmondBC #ShorelineCleanup

On Saturday morning over 60 volunteers from Richmond's business community rolled up their sleeves to tackle waste on Richmond's shorelines. We collected over 4,500 lbs of junk - including a burnt (empty) safe, a car engine, and even a truck canopy! The leaders at Platinum Pro-Claim Restoration and 505-Junk were absolutely essential to this event's success. From rolling up with their trucks, collection tools, much-needed tents, and hosting the post-event BBQ at PPCR's parking lot, these companies really know what it means to give back to their community and be stewards of our environment. Can't wait to do it again next year! (Even if my muscles are still a little sore today 💪) https://lnkd.in/g2r7uBm7
