We’re thrilled to announce that ALMA @ Cabbagetown has officially broken ground! 👏 We can’t wait to bring these purpose-built student accommodations to life!
Last week, we broke ground on ALMA @ Cabbagetown, located at 307 Sherbourne. Canada’s current pipeline for purpose-built student accommodations (PBSAs) provides only 16,700 beds, covering just 4% of the national shortfall. Projects like this aim to relieve pressure on local rental markets, where vacancy rates have reached historic lows. ALMA @ Cabbagetown addresses this gap by delivering housing for students while also easing pressure on the broader rental market—a "two birds with one stone" approach. Currently approved for 192 units and 236 beds, we are working with city officials to add 3 more storeys, increasing the total to 223 units. The project is being built to 44.7% below the national building code, featuring smaller rental suites that maximize space and affordability, and will comprise of fully furnished units, amenity-rich common areas, and geothermal heating and cooling.
