  • The Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Sault Ste Marie Downtown Association, is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the 2025 Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) initiative. Beginning in early 2025, the project aims to strengthen and support local businesses by gathering critical insights directly from business owners and managers. The BR+E initiative’s primary objective is to support and strengthen existing businesses. By conducting interviews with business owners, the program seeks to understand the specific challenges, needs, and opportunities within the community. This information will help shape local economic development strategies, with the goal of creating a more supportive and resilient business environment. Participating businesses will benefit by having their voices heard in the development of policies and programs that could directly improve their operations, helping to create a more competitive and thriving marketplace. HOW TO GET INVOLVED: To become a Volunteer Visitor, interested individuals are encouraged to attend a training session on November 27th at 496 Queen St E, the Downtown Association Office from 1:30 PM – 3:30PM. The session will run for 2 hours, covering the interview process and best practices for gathering information. Please RSVP your seat at the volunteer training session by clicking here and registering on the Eventbrite webpage: https://bit.ly/4fzi26s Your participation in this community-wide effort is essential to the project’s success. Together, we can gather accurate insights to support our businesses, drive economic growth, and enhance Sault Ste. Marie as a place to work, live, and thrive.
