This Thursday, we are throwing it back to summer fun at our Skilled Futures Summer Camps! 🌞 Our camps give youth the chance to dive into skilled trades and technology through hands-on activities and teamwork. From welding, plumbing, and carpentry to relay races and water fights, we loved watching future industry pros learn new skills and grow their confidence. 🛠️ Skilled Futures Summer Camps are made possible through partnerships with the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency (Government of Nova Scotia), the Government of Nova Scotia – Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration, and the Nova Scotia Community College - NSCC. #SkillsSummerFun #Throwback #SkilledTrades #Technology #NovaScotia

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our organization will pause to reflect on the deep and ongoing impacts of residential schools. This is a time to educate ourselves, honour survivors, and recognize the importance of reconciliation for future generations. At SCNS, we are committed to walking the path of truth and reconciliation together. In observance of this important day, the Skills Canada - Nova Scotia office will be closed on Monday, September 30, 2024.

This week we teamed up with Techsploration to bring two groups of female students to the 2024 OCEANS Conference & Exposition in Halifax. This empowering opportunity included employability skill programming, mentor networking, and the conference experience. Students heard directly from female engineers and professionals about their journey. They provided the chance to explore some of the emerging technologies being used in skilled trades and technology careers within the oceans sector. Thank you to Skills Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador for facilitating their "Dragon's Lair" workshop, the Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre for their "Networking 101" session, and our own Chris Gallant for his "Speaking with Confidence" workshop. Special thank you to Techsploration, OTCNS, and the RBC Foundation for helping to make this opportunity possible! #SkilledFutures #SkilledFuturesinOceans #NovaScotia Ocean Technology Council of Nova Scotia (OTCNS) Techsploration RBC

With over 13,000 km of coastline, many of Nova Scotia's opportunities in skilled trade and technology sectors are naturally tied to the ocean. This week Halifax welcomes more than 2000 people from across the globe to the 2024 OCEANS Conference & Exposition. Over the next couple of days we are teaming up with Techsploration to bring two groups of female students to the conference for some ocean-focused career exploration. Special thanks to Ocean Technology Council of Nova Scotia (OTCNS) and the RBC Foundation for helping make this opportunity possible. #SkilledFutures #SkilledFuturesinOceans #NovaScotia
