About us
Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) was launched in May 2015 with the mandate to pursue economic self-sufficiency without sacrificing the cultural values and integrity of the Six Nations people. SNGRDC manages Six Nations’ economic interests in 25 energy projects and numerous economic development opportunities in and around the Six Nations territory. SNGRDC’s current energy portfolio boasts over 2.4 GW of capacity through its direct or indirect involvement in five battery storage, six solar, and 14 wind projects. SNGRDC is located on the Six Nations Reserve with over 100 employees working in Nation Enterprise (on-reserve) or the administration of Economic Interests (off-reserve) projects. Surplus profits generated by SNGRDC are invested back into the Six Nations community through annual contributions to the Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT). Since 2016, SNGRDC has contributed over $18 million to the EDT to address community needs and priorities. SNGRDC is governed by a Board of Directors composed of nine members. September 30 marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. Today we honour residential school Survivors and the children who never made it home. 🧡 This year, SNGRDC purchased our orange shirts from the Survivors' Secretariat, a Six Nations-based, survivor-led organization that organizes and supports efforts to uncover, document, and share the truth about what happened at the Mohawk Institute during its 140+ years of operation. To learn more about the Survivor's Secretariat and their mission, please visit https://lnkd.in/g_AYzmBy. #sixnations #indigenous #truthandreconciliation #orangeshirtday
