Electrical asset failures not only cost millions of dollars a year in downtime, but they also have the potential to maim and kill. Acoustic Imaging Technology is an effective condition monitoring tool for pinpointing common medium and high-voltage electrical system defects such as arcing, tracking, partial discharge and corona. The SonaVu+ is a next generation Acoustic Imaging Camera capable of pinpointing and diagnosing electrical defects thanks to its long range optical camera, 112 digital MEMS sensors, and on-board PRPD analysis capabilities. In the following acoustic image we see a floating partial discharge electrical defect. SonaVu's PRPD Pattern shows high levels of ultrasonic activity at 90º and 270º. #Maintenance #Reliability #ConditionMonitoring #PartialDischarge #PredictiveMaintenance #Manufacturing #Industry #Technology #Innovation

If you're concerned about the amount of compressed air your plant is wasting, conducting a compressed air leak survey is the ideal solution. The following is a comprehensive 12-Step Guide to help enhance the efficiency of your compressed air system with the help on Sonavu and SonaVu Insights Step 1. Have a plan. Before you perform your compressed air leak survey, start by doing a walk of the plant, with nothing but a clipboard. Familiarize yourself with the different sections of the plant you will be surveying. Step 2. Determine which safety and inspection equipment you will require for each section of the plant. Step 3. If it is a larger facility, break the compressed air system up into manageable sections to survey individually. Step 4. Configure your compressed air system in SonaVu InSights. If you have multiple compressed air systems, configure all and ensure they are surveyed separately. Step 5. Always adhere to all safety procedures for each section of the plant. Step 6. Set the sensitivity of your ultrasound device to compensate for background competing ultrasound. Do this by pointing your device at the floor and adjusting the sensitivity of the unit up or down until you can just barely hear background ultrasound noise through your headset. Step 7. Begin your survey. Start scanning the compressed air system environment up, down, back and forth. Thoroughness is important. Leaks can happen anywhere within your compressed air leak system. Step 8. Listen for a consistent rushing noise in your headset when pointing it in a specific direction. This is what the ultrasound produced by compressed air leaks sounds like. Step 9. Once you identify the general location of a suspected leak, you need to physically walk towards it continuing your up and down, back and forth motion with the sensors until you can confirm the exact location of the given leak. Step 10. Upload your complete survey to SonaVu lnSights and generate a Live Report Document with 4 easy clicks. Step 11. Quantify the estimated cost of each compressed air leak with SonaVu Insights. Step 12. Collaborate with your maintenance team and prioritize repairs using Continuously Integrated Reporting on SonaVu lnSights.

Power lines form the backbone of modern society. For a world dependent on electricity for communication, transportation, healthcare, and business, the importance of reliable electrical infrastructure cannot be understated. Many power lines run above busy roads, residential neighbourhoods, and critical infrastructure, and keeping them operational is essential to public safety. When storms, accidents, and equipment failures cause outages, utility workers and power line technicians must head out - often into dangerous conditions - to restore that lifeline. The SonaVu Acoustic Imaging camera simplifies powerline maintenance, reducing costs and minimizing safety risks. #Maintenance #Reliability #ConditionMonitoring #PredictiveMaintenance #ElectricalInspection #ElectricalSafety

This compressed air leak found with the SonaVu Acoustic Imaging Camera was costing hundreds of thousands of dollars per hour in lost production. An agricultural facility relies on a compressor for its daily operations. This important piece of equipment was disassembled for cleaning. During reassembly, the outlet valve on the compressor had an imperfect connection resulting in severe leak and inadequate compressed air supply. The maintenance crew went back to using the only technique they had available- the soap bubble test. Unfortunately, this outdated method was unable to locate the leak. The next day, a SonaVu tech arrived at the facility. Within fifteen minutes of scanning the compressor room, three small leaks were found on the piping and valves. However, these small leaks were not the cause of the facility’s major issue. Upon further investigation, the technician discovered major leak on the compressor’s check valve. #Maintenance #Conditionmonitoring #Predictivemaintenance #LeakDetection #CompressedAir
