As winter approaches and daylight hours decrease, it’s important to ensure you’re getting enough Vitamin D to support your overall health. 🌤️ Vitamin D is essential for maintaining healthy bones and a strong immune system. During the winter months, it can be challenging to get enough vitamin D from sunlight alone. Here are some recommendations from Alberta Health Services for Albertans: 1. Spend time outdoors: even in winter, try to get outside during daylight hours to boost your vitamin D levels naturally. 2. Consider supplements: talk to your healthcare provider about taking a vitamin D supplement and how much is right for you. 3. Include vitamin D-rich food in your diet: foods like fatty fish and egg yolks are great sources. Happy Halloween from SCPCN! 🎃 Make sure trick or treating is both a fun and safe activity for your little monsters with these safety tips: 👻 Choose bright costumes that are highly visible. Add reflective tape to further increase visibility. 👻 Consider using hypoallergenic makeup instead of masks that may impair breathing or vision. 👻 Be sure costumes are loose enough to be worn over warm clothing, but not so long they become a tripping hazard. Partners for Safety vehicles will be patrolling communities on Halloween night to provide a visible safety resource for parents and trick-or-treaters.
