About us

BACKGROUND: Since September 2006, the South Calgary Recreational Hockey League (SCRHL) has provided weekly ice time schedules, qualified referees, a safe playing environment, and Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association (CARHA) liability coverage to players aged 18+ who are interested in playing weekly morning and evening recreational hockey in Calgary, Alberta: Monday through Friday. Updates

  • The South Calgary Recreational Hockey League Inc (SCRHL) is looking for additional referees to expand our officiating roster for Friday and Saturday evening games in 2025. What does the SCRHL offer compared to other adult recreational hockey leagues in the city that are refereed and timekept? • All adult Friday & Saturday evening games are in South Calgary at Trico Centre, Cardel Rec South, and Great Plains Recreation Centre with two referees and a timekeeper. If you live in South Calgary, it’s very convenient as a side hustle / part-time evening job / hobby. • Pay is $70 per referee per 70-minute game and referees are paid on the last day of each month. • The games in the January to April 2025 period that require coverage start between 9:00 PM and 10:30PM at Great Plains, Trico Centre, and Cardel Rec South on Fridays and Saturdays. If you’re interested, you have no issue with wearing a GoPro on your helmet, and you have at least 3 years refereeing experience with a good knowledge of Hockey Canada rules (unfortunately, experience only playing hockey without officiating experience will not be sufficient), then please text 403-703-1136 for consideration. 🏒 #adultrechockeycalgary #referees #scrhl

  • SCRHL VLOG #18 - This week’s VLOG is about the SCRHL spare list for goalies and skaters that’s emailed once per week on Sundays to all SCRHL team captains. There are about 300+ goalies on it (at the last count) and probably about 400 to 500+ skaters. Goalies never pay to play and skaters pay $22 per game. So, with this handy tool, SCRHL captains should never be in the position where they need to default their next game, providing they have enough time to call a spare goalie and spare skaters. Do you want to learn more about the SCRHL spare list? You can read about it on the SCRHL website at the following link, which also has information about team rosters, which we will be discussing in next week’s VLOG #19: https://lnkd.in/gdtzjRdN

  • SCRHL VLOG #17 - Registration for the SCRHL Winter 2025 half of the season is due on November 15th, 2024 (6 weeks away!). Start or continue playing adult recreational hockey with us in the morning before work and/or after work in the evening in Southwest & Southeast Calgary - Refereed and non-refereed divisions available and games only in the south end of town. There’s still time to register in the Winter half! WWW.SCRHL.CA

  • SCRHL VLOG #13 - The SCRHL Fall 2024 half of the season (September 9th to December 21st) is now underway!
