About us
At Sparkgeo, we provide geospatial expertise to tech companies. Need to leverage geospatial technology? We can help you navigate the path forward. Our obsessive focus on geospatial technology makes us a somewhat unique company. In fact, most of our work is with other technology companies. They look to us as expert partners who can lend them expertise that’s not easily found in-house. We listen carefully, are platform-agnostic, and look to afford the most value we can to our clients. To make this possible, each of our staff members has a high degree of autonomy. This allows them to do what they must—instead of being bound to tradition or bureaucracy.

Our Senior Developer, Joe Burkinshaw is at FOSS4G North America. Joe is set to present on a web map component library our team has been building.

FOSS4G North America The Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4GNA) is the premier open geospatial conference in North America. This event attracts a huge variety of participants. This year, we will meet in St. Louis, which is fast becoming North America's #geospatial hub. If you make it, you'll meet product managers from massive tech companies, decision-makers from pivotal government institutions, independent freelancers, and open-source #geospatial enthusiasts. While the #geospatial sector has various dominant proprietary products, the influence of open-source #geospatial is felt across our community of practice. So many organizations now have hybrid architectures, and so many products leverage open-source technology that this event and the FOSS4G international events have outsized influence. Every team in #geospatial should have an open-source strategy. This year, both Will Cadell and Joe Burkinshaw will attend from Sparkgeo. Joe will be presenting on a web map component library our team has been building. https://lnkd.in/giB7B5b2

As with most modern industries, #mining doesn't have a problem with a lack of data; it's in building future-proof technology to use that data. I love seeing how the Sparkgeo - Geospatial Consulting & Development team is enabling #geospatial digital transformation through consultation, discovery, and custom software development.
Modern Geospatial in Mining Digital geography has revolutionized numerous industries. The mining sector is one example of the exploratory, speed of calculation, and logistics benefits that modern geospatial practices enable. As mining is not alone in the deployment of new geospatial technologies, the industry is also beset with the common problems associated with massive and disparate data collection. Modern technology like IoT networks and drone swarms provide us with astonishing amounts of data, but without tools to understand this data, opportunities for utilizing its value may be missed. Without modern data management tools, too much data often means that opportunities are missed. How much data is stored on external hard drives or deep in some corporate network drive? How much opportunity is stored on a shelf? More data should enable decision-making rather than muddy the waters. At Sparkgeo, we have seen numerous situations where data is not being adequately used. Our Prescient product has solved some of these situations, like enabling cloud-native access to data like imagery or LiDAR catalogues. Our services team also solves some of these challenges by developing custom web, mobile, or embedded geospatial tools for volumetric analysis to deliver customized geospatial digital transformation. We may have found the answer to "it depends" when designing and developing applications. It depends on design principles. Read about our 6 revamped design principles for 2024 and how we use them. bit.ly/3Z2Azmv
