St. Michaels Mission is a non-profit organization providing services to the most vulnerable members of our community

About us

For over 95 years, St-Michael’s Mission has been a warm and friendly refuge in the heart of Montreal, providing services to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of our community. St. Michael's Mission was founded in 1927 by the Parish of St. John the Evangelist and later supported by the Diocese of Montreal as an outreach to the poor and homeless in Montreal’s downtown core. The Mission is open, inclusive, and respectful of the beliefs and integrity of all people. Under its red roof, St. Michael’s Mission is an independent not for profit Corporation and today offers a safe and warm shelter, food, socialization and other basic hygiene, medical and clothing services to a multicultural clientele. Frontline services have evolved to include crisis intervention, as a first step in the process of dealing with mental illness enabling clients to acquire self respect and confidence, find employment, and reintegrate into society. St. Michael's Mission is part of a supported, recognized and integrated network of services that delivers the basic needs to the poor and homeless of Montreal. While there are a number of night shelters located in Montreal, St Michael’s Mission, as a resource centre, provides an important link in the chain of services for the City’s disadvantaged and marginalized population.
