This week, Richard Wile of our Civil Engineering team represented the Consulting Engineers of Nova Scotia (CENS) as a part of a panel that spoke to the senior class of the Dalhousie University Civil Engineering program. The panel discussed what it is like to be an engineer in the workforce and how new graduates can position themselves for success in the competitive job market. Richard has done this for several years now and it has become a great way to connect with the next generation of consulting engineers and potential Strum employees. #StrumCivil #StrumGivesBack #DalhousieUniversity

Happy World Habitat Day. This year's theme is engaging youth to create a better urban future so that beautiful habitats like these can be sustainably incorporated into development design. Our Environmental Assessments & Approval team has the important job of mapping and identifying these habitats to evaluate the potential for a project to impact components of the environment. At Strum we are empowering the next generation to get involved in advancing sustainable development. #StrumEnvironment #WorldHabitatDay #StrumProud

Delighted to repost this from our environmental scientist Samantha Stegen, MREM, P. Biol. If you are interested in a fun and rewarding career in environmental services please check out our job postings at strum.com/careers.
As we near the end of another field season, I am so grateful for my job, learning from amazing experts in the industry, and connecting with the people I work with and those in the community. Here are some highlights from my summer: - 3 day online and field Wetland Training Course with Aquality Environmental Consulting Ltd. - Networking at the Stampede Big Guns Breakfast with Bear Tracks Environmental Services. - Open House (Public consultation for a proposed solar project) with our new Senior Project Manager, Janel Prasad. Janel is based in Calgary, Alberta and we are so thrilled to have her on our team. - Fundraiser walk for HomeFront with TC Energy where I met Maggie Mackillop, who just so happens to have grown up on the Mira River, Nova Scotia just down the road from my family cottage. Small world moment, but the stars were aligned. 💜 - Reconnecting with past colleagues at AiM Land, always so much fun catching up and wishing each other a successful future! Springled with LOTS of fun field work, this was a never-a-dull moment type of summer and I am SO grateful. Thank you Strum Consulting for these amazing opportunities. I love the work we do and I am so lucky to be a part of such a great team. I can't wait to see what's next! Tara Evenson Jenni Svrcek Cecilia Lin Claire Woodfield Candace Schreindorfer Gabrielle Leakey ^ A huge thank you to these wonderful people for making it extra fun in Alberta. #Energy #Strum #Solar #OilandGas #O+G #Renewables #RenewableEnergy #Wetland #Ecology

On Saturday, September 28, Strum staff Sarah Scarlett and Scott Dickey participated in the BMO Ride for Cancer. Sarah and Scott each biked 25 km on the Rum Runners Trail from Hobson Lake Drive in Bayers Lake to Hubley and back. The QEII Foundation proudly hosts the Ride for Cancer, and all funds raised this year supported the introduction of liquid biopsy technology at the QEII. Well done to Sarah and Scott for participating in Atlantic Canada's largest cycling fundraising event. #StrumProud #LetsBeatCancer #BMORideforCancer #StrumGivesBack

Today the Strum staff are wearing orange shirts to commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Monday, September 30. The day honours the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools, as well as families and communities. Formerly known as Orange Shirt Day it is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the impacts of residential schools and promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom, and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations. We stand in solidarity with our partners and with other Indigenous communities across Canada in acknowledgment of the need for understanding, reflection, and collective action. Our offices will be closed on Monday, September 30 for a quiet day of reflection. #EveryChildMatters #NDTR2024
