The northern lights illuminated the sky (and social media feeds) for several nights earlier this fall in many parts of Canada and the U.S. Check out these great images of aurora activity captured by employees across our operations in northern Alberta!

While we're stronger together through our regional integration, the good-natured rivalry between the Suncor Blades and Syncrude Bison returned to the ice last night for the President's Cup Hockey Challenge in Fort McMurray. In the end, the Blades retained the Cup with a 9-6 victory, but it was the community who was the real winner with more than $16,500 raised for the United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo and 750 pairs of socks collected to be donated to the Centre of Hope! A big thanks to the players, coaches, volunteers and fans for another great game and all of the community support!

Our wildlife monitoring process includes using trail cameras, which has left us with some impressive and sometimes funny photos of the many species living on or near our operating sites. We track wildlife activity and use the data for training and safety protocols, minimizing environmental impact and managing effective land reclamation. Between 2013 and 2022, over 200 species were detected on reclaimed land, and monitoring is ongoing.
