As the Ontario government intensifies its focus on advancing the life sciences sector, it's fantastic to see Deputy Premier and Minister Sylvia Jones touring BWXT Medical's facilities in Ottawa this week. Witnessing firsthand the dedication and innovation that goes into developing life-saving cancer treatments is truly remarkable. As a leader in nuclear medicine, BWXT Medical has invested significant time and capital in expanding its Ontario manufacturing capacity, and we are excited to see their continued growth.
Today, while in #Ottawa, I had the opportunity to visit BWXT Medical, a global nuclear medical leader dedicated to producing isotopes that play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating patients. Thank you to the BWXT team for the tour and for all you do to improve patient care.

We were honoured to be a part of yesterday's event at the Empire Club of Canada, where Michele Harradence, EVP and President of Gas Distribution and Storage at Enbridge Gas, discussed the importance of energy investment for Canada’s future. Harradence highlighted how reliable, resilient, and cost-effective energy is key to growing critical sectors like manufacturing, greenhouse, and mining. As Ontario’s electricity demand continues to rise, the need for strategic investment in energy infrastructure has never been more pressing.
“Reliable, resilient and cost-effective energy has always been this country’s life force, and the foundation for a healthy economy and our great quality of life,” Michele Harradence, EVP and President, Gas Distribution and Storage, Enbridge Inc., said at the Empire Club of Canada on Tuesday. “If we want to get serious about reigniting investment in Canada, we need to start with energy,” Harradence said at the Toronto event. The need for energy investment is real. In Ontario, for example, electricity demand alone is now forecast to increase a whopping 75 percent over the next 25 years. In late August, Ontario launched the largest competitive energy procurement in the province’s history, as part of what it calls an “all-of-the-above” energy resource approach. During her address, Harradence noted that less than two weeks ago, Ontario Minister of Energy and Electrification Stephen Lecce appeared at the Empire Club of Canada and talked about the government’s plan to make the province an energy superpower. “And he made a point of saying that we need to leverage private capital to build our energy systems for the next generation. We at Enbridge are all in favour. We’ve been invested in this province’s success for more than 175 years and we want to keep that up,” Harradence said. Investing in reliable, resilient, cost-effective energy, and that includes natural gas, “is how we will grow our critical manufacturing sector, how we will support our burgeoning greenhouse sector, how we will underpin our mining sector as the global need for critical minerals continues to soar,” she said. Harradence highlighted three crucial areas of focus to encourage energy investment: • Simplify the regulatory burden on the energy sector. • Simplify the complexity of both the tax and incentive systems. • Encourage efficient economic incentives right across the energy sector. “If we can get these three elements working, and working together cohesively, they can be magnets that actually help attract investment,” said Harradence, who also had a conversation with Hannah Thibedeau, Executive Communications Officer with Global Public Affairs. “The opportunities are out there, and the stakes have never been higher," Harradence added. #Investment #EnergyEvolution #NaturalGas #ONPoli Empire Club of Canada

Today at the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Bruce Power’s COO James Scongack highlighted Ontario's potential to lead in medical isotope production. It was an honour to have Chris Benedetti, our Managing Partner, be part of this vital discussion on clean energy and innovation, paving the way for a brighter future in health technology.
The opportunity for Ontario to lead the world in production of life-savimg medical isotopes is immense and Bruce Power is at the forefront. Our COO James Scongack eloquently framed this today at the Toronto Region Board of Trade and outlined how investments in our clean energy generation capabilities goes hand in hand with our opportunity to dominate in the rapidly emerging global medical isotope market, expected to grow to $33B USD by the end of the decade. He also highlighted our unique equity partnership with the Saugeen Ojibway Nation in our isotope production system, which recently doubled its capacity. Today, we filed a letter of intent with CNSC to expand that capability even further. Thank you to Minister Lecce for his welcoming video!
